Surrogates is a fictional movie about robots and human interaction. It is played by Bruce Willis as the main actor of the movie. To give an overview about the movie; the robots replaced the real man. They are controlled by human being through the use of a device that commands the machine to do the things usually human does like partying, working, guarding, cooking and etc. The robots are called surrogates. The movie is emphasizing about synthesizing humanity. The technological advancement showed in the film is very amazing. The modified human hides the disability of a man through making a mere representation of a perfect person he wants to be. The movie shows how a man gains confidence by making himself as perfect as what the world perceives a perfect being, which is not a good thing because it’s living on the shadow of somebody else. It is one of the negative effects of having a world that is so empowered with technology – being too relying on its work thus human tends to forget his true self.

The surrogates’ faces were made perfectly flawless and beautiful which makes the woman’s beauty surreal and is more likely a living puppet – emotionless and pale. The true beauty of a woman is not solely shown on a flawless skin or perfect facial features instead it could be found also on her personality and even simple acts like smiling.

On the contrary, though living like a surrogate is living in lies, when there would come a time that there would be war, the surrogates would replace man’s role on the battlefield. No more lives will go to waste. When a surrogate would be destroyed during the war, it will be replaced there and then.

Understanding man’s obsession of perfectness becomes the reason of his weakness. The surrogate makes the body rotten and weakling and it also invalidate the significance of man’s existence and it is as well an act of disobeying the natural law and philosophy of human life. When this event may come to reality, it will make the world dull, emotionless and machine-dependent. People will care no more about self-improvement, social relationship and spiritual devotion because they felt that they had achieves their perception of being perfect. The perfectness and flawlessness which the machines give to the working life cycle blinded the man his true purpose of living and being a living creation. The machine becomes the man’s representation of him which is living in fraud. The man is totally looking to be perfect in all aspects but always forgets that the best thing in life is having shortcomings and overcome them than having none. Life would be boring and not worth living without someone to love, to care and to live with, it is so surreal as if merely manipulated.

The Fifth Element is the movie played by Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich. This movie is about extermination of all life forms in Earth. The Fifth Element is the light or the savior of mankind is a girl who possesses the ultimate power to stop the extermination. The movie involves aliens- the good and the bad one. The movie’s relationship about future technology is somewhat beyond today’s discoveries. Alien’s nowadays is considered fictional because their existence is not yet proven. The special effects in end part is very superficial and beyond the truth. Sorcery powers are not a science based discoveries and teachings.

The mechanical machineries and high technology advancements supported in the movie is very good, I like the life reviving machine system the most. The reviving machine would be an amazing discovery if it is really exist. All lives can be restored as long as there’s a lived piece of living cell of your remains. The machine rapidly restructuring perfectly the bones, then body cells and body tissues, and make the organs and muscles, and the most breath-taking is restoring the life. Life restoring is like modern God way process of making man. This life reviving phenomenon is a mere fiction and impossible. Machines cannot regenerate cells through one’s remains. If this would happen in reality, man’s life never ending life or immortality is achieved at last (just if ever). If this will be proven it will destroy the natural world balance and all living forms will become an experimental avenue of man’s greatest discovery. When equilibrium is lost catastrophe will prevail. Significance of one’s life will be no more.

Another mind-boggling technology featured in the movie is the flying car. The sky becomes the super highways of the world. While it is really wonderful of having a flying car, well I know it is near possible because of the air vehicle concept.

All these things is created because of man’s ultimate ambition of having a never-ending life that is impossible because the life that is lost will cannot be restored nor created.

The people created marvelous spaceship, fantastic flying cars and greatly amazing airplanes that flying from planet-to-planet tour.

Comparing both movies it simply tells that technological advancement is aiming towards this fictional world. Both movies show the people interest of to having a perfect life and perfect world. People continually search and discovery things to achieve this high tech life which is Impossible for now but we don’t know, this might or not be happened no one can tell.

As a future IT professional, what do you think will be your contributions for the development of technology based on what you learned from college? Define each and state its implications towards our IT society and industry.

Being a future IT Professional what can be my contributions for the development will be the following:

1. To be a good IT consultant. Based on what I’ve learned about career that an IT professional can have is becoming an IT consultant. I think being a good one would be a great help to the community in the sense that business nowadays is in IT development. I can give them good advice what the business is needed and what it can do more through using a better and suitable technology for them.

2. To be a good team leader or project manager. Being a good leader means being a good follower which most of the time is not that easy to follow because of being egoistic of a man. This is hard to gain but one’s it comes to your blood stream it would probably a good help for development to whole project as well as being a better person.

3. Becoming a creative and adoptive IT professional. Becoming a creative and adoptive in such a way that knowing to use the full blast of the technology based on the resources that are available. Even making creative design for graphical and animation aspects, while being adoptive on the free and available software that can help make improvements. In simple term being innovative in improvising IT enhancements.

4. Being a good follower. Being a good follower, I mean here is to know how to follow standard for compatibility and accessibility purposes. I also emphasizing here following what’s new in the IT world to make you compatible on what is the latest trends, strategies and process, always updating oneself.

5. Becoming a good communicator. Communicating with clients is a crucial part in IT business. You have to give clearer view on how importance is your products to be used in their companies. You have to convince them in the way that you have to make them understand its importance, and talking to clients is a very tough job.

Man is technology independent, almost all time people use technology. The work of people comes easy and light through the use in technology. People now can navigate around the world through land, seas and air. People can communicate people around the world and do understand each other’s differences- in races, language and culture is never an issue today, this is through using media that shows and teaches everything one need to know. Even synthesizing humanity is continuously being studied and developed; it is gradually improving and doing fine.

Reasons why use technology as well as the field where it is involved.

Teachers believed on having computer-based technologies could provide support for thinking processes. And it is joyfully supported by student because problem-solving skills are being developed while having fun. Teaching strategies with the use of technology becomes effective and retain more than usual and traditional way. Students are not pressured in focusing to study because the instructional software caught student attention through the graphical and simulation effect the software provide. 1. first is Paying of fees (Local Council fee, Obrero Campus Student Council fee, collegiate headlight fee and Insurance),

3. third go to your college adviser, submit or present all necessary documents, and secure a Pre-Registration form,
4. fourth Fill up the Pre-Registration form and have your adviser to sign it,
5. fifth submit the Pre-Registration form to the encoder and secure Certificate of Registration,
6. sixth (For scholars) Verify student accounts at the bookkeeper. (For non-scholars) Pay tuition fee at the cashier,

Comment on the picture:

The flowchart as you can see, it display the process but the way the figures being presented there are some minor flaws to re-check and fix.

1. The arrows are not uniform; they are in different sizes which is somewhat ambiguous for we have learned that symbols in flowchart have different meaning. Likewise, different sizes means having a different meaning.
2. There are so many actors which are unnecessary.

Suggestion:
1. Use a uniform arrow.
2. Use only actors that illustrate the appropriate individual.

All universities have a common enrollment system, the students must have to fill-up the subjects to enroll and have it encoded, and pay for all and any enrollment fees, but the difference and distinct between the USeP and other universities is the practice of implementing the enrollment system. Here at USeP, enrollment system for us is really a big burden for it lapses to two or more days before you will get admitted. How come? In some other schools enrolling yourself is a just a piece of cake but in USeP it seems as punishment. Is it a payment for a low tuition fee? It is actually not the intention of the university but they are so blind to see what the problem is and how to solve it. Here in USeP having an unorganized enrollment system is common view or scenario, so it might be the reason why until now it still becomes irresolvable issue.
Admission in USeP is really irritating to everyone before and even now. When I was in first year, I really shocked how chaotic, messy and disorganized the enrollment was. You have to line yourself in every transaction and the line is really very very long, and being a first year I am so blind about what was going on. I kept on asking what next where I can find those offices. It is irritating knowing that you don’t know things and having numerous students fall in line for each transaction. The most annoying part in the enrollment is those students who are noisy complaining and gossiping which pissed off the staff and people who are catering the services. So when both clash it’s become another reason for the delay. On the other hand, the hotness adds up the infuriating condition of the crowd.

That was before but now it still the same as before, improvement is really hard to determine. I was happy when they said that there is a new enrollment system for USeP. That time I thought the problem about the enrollment would be addressed now, but still processing the enrollment takes a day or more. Change there are saying and implemented seems so useless. The changes I see now are the following:

 New, bigger and nice registrar’s office.
 New computers in the registrar’s office.
 New Chairs in front of cashier’s and registrar’s office.
 Tarpaulins and pamphlets are posted in the wall about the enrollment process.
 The registrar gives the final COR.
 New Integrated Enrollment System .

My Suggestions are the following:
1. In my own perception the reason on the delays of enrollment is having much process that can be combined or merged into one transaction, to help student line no less than two transactions.
How to do this?

1. I want to suggest that instead of having an advising during enrollment why not doing it after releasing of grade. In part of the student as earlier you know your standing is easier to accept. In this situation student can decide to go on or not. While in part of the adviser, he can advise thoroughly the student what proper action to do and give a relevant possible suggestion at the same time student can also have a thorough understanding and view clear what the best thing to do.
2. I suggest that aside on the respective colleges have the encoded of subject, why not doing it in the cashier area.
3. We can observe that cashier have the heavier job, so I suggest that additional staff is recommended for every college.
4. All student fees would be payable only in the cashier, through this student will only pay fees in just one place and it will be written directly in the COR.
5. The student can immediately process the validation of ID as well as stamping on the COR and receiving student clearance be easy and less hassle.
6. After doing so, the student can now get his library card ID be validated immediately.
All of this suggestion is based on my point of view.

Actually this steps of evaluation I found out on the entry on the past sad2 student her name is riza eve gador in her entry on their sad2 subject assignment 2. After reading her entry I am awaken that I must not only focusing on the physical aspect on evaluating the enrollment system cause I know that involve the currently system being use. I must involve the database but honestly I know nothing about the database of the school. So I will present the following things to consider on how to evaluate the database. According to her, she didn’t know who the author of this article is, because she had read it on the notepad. The article tackles about “What to look for in a Database System”.

1. Does the system appear easy to use?

Assuming you received a demo disk or watched a product demonstration, you should be able to get a feel for how to use the system. Are the instructions on the screens easy to understand? Are there clear menu selections? Is there a logical flow of steps or processes to follow? Can you use the mouse to give instructions or move from one screen to another? Are the instructions written in English as opposed to "computer-ese"? These are a few of the things to look for in evaluating how user-friendly the system is.

2. Does the system have adequate installation and reference documentation?

Will you be able to install the system yourself or will the vendor provide this service? Are there adequate, clearly written instructions provided? Is there user or reference material included with the software? If possible ask to see written documentation before you purchase.

3. Is the database relational?

A relational database (as opposed to a flat file) means you can have multiple jobs in process at the same time, while keeping track of each one. For example, with a relational database, you are able to have dozens of active jobs, each at a different stage. At any time, you can locate a particular job, identify the respondents and the client associated with it, and edit information pertaining to the job. 4. Does the system have features that will save you time and money?

Look for the extra features that can boost your productivity. Mailing labels and reports are useful. Pre-formatted recruiting lists and/or sign-in sheets will save you time. 5. Is the database written in an application that is widely used and has a good reputation?

There are dozens of database applications on the market today. They vary tremendously in cost, ease of use, and popularity. Some database applications have very specialized uses. If the database system you purchase is written in one of the more popular applications (e.g. Access, Paradox, SQL Server), you will gain several advantages. First, your vendor or developer will have better access to technical support. This will benefit both of you if there's a bug or problem your developer has not previously encountered. Second, it will be easier for you to exchange data with other applications such as a word processing program or spreadsheet. Finally, using a popular application will give you peace of mind if you have an emergency and your files need to be recovered or restored. You are more likely to find help locally if your database system is written in one of the more popular applications.

6. Can the system import and export data to and from other applications?

Suppose you acquire a computerized list of respondents, along with their addresses, dates of birth, and other demographic information. Rather than manually entering each record into your database system, you might prefer to import the information directly into your database. A system that imports and exports data in the form of text, spreadsheets, for these purposes can save hours of data entry time.

Starting our journey about the MIS environment, we must first know what the stuffs we must consider in introducing MIS are Business Industries and Information Technology (IS) itself, and how they are correlate each other. This first step will give us the idea that IS is one of the elements in the business world, that is why as an IT students we have to adopt and considered the business industry, and how to link IT into its prospect industry. Based on the learning’s that I’ve learned in this past few years of studying as an IT students, I’ve known that IT is an helping tool for the business industry to progress and prosper .
All of the success in the business and in the field of technology is not by luck but with the proper, appropriate and correct management and planning. But as of this moment we will tackle about essentiality of having a good plan in both the business and in the Information Systems area. When we talks about planning it is a crucial task. Its because of some factors to be considered such as long time for hardware delivery, the difficulty of software development and the preparation needed for training and implementation have all demanded advance planning. This planning task has been primarily technical, specifically focuses on hardware and software and its relationship into the business industry. It is a preparation of one business or one system how to improve one's organization for the days or years to come. It is trying to respond in the changes and challenges that blocks the way of success. It is strategical approach of new ideas, new techniques, new business strategies and new systems, which intentionally gives a positive impacts in the business and organizations. For instance, the business makes a plan first before implementing something, like purchasing the new system for the new accounting system. Characteristics of a Quality ISP

A quality ISP must exhibit five distinct characteristics before it is useful. These five are presented in the table that follows.

a.) Timely- The ISP must be timely. An ISP that is created long after it is needed is useless. In almost all cases, it makes no sense to take longer to plan work than to perform the work planned.

b.) Useable- The ISP must be useable. It must be so for all the projects as well as for each project. The ISP should exist in sections that once adopted can be parceled out to project managers and immediately started.

c.) Maintainable -The ISP should be maintainable. New business opportunities, new computers, business mergers, etc. all affect the ISP. The ISP must support quick changes to the estimates, technologies employed, and possibly even to the fundamental project sequences. Once these changes are accomplished, the new ISP should be just a few computer program executions away.

d.) Quality- While the ISP must be a quality product, no ISP is ever perfect on the first try. As the ISP is executed, the metrics employed to derive the individual project estimates become refined as a consequence of new hardware technologies, code generators, techniques, or faster working staff. As these changes occur, their effects should be installable into the data that supports ISP computation. In short, the ISP is a living document. It should be updated with every technology event, and certainly no less often than quarterly.

e.) Reproducible The ISP must be reproducible. That is, when its development activities are performed by any other staff, the ISP produced should essentially be the same. The ISP should not significantly vary by staff assigned.

Business Plans and IS Plan written primarily for use within the company generally stresses the benefits that will result from implementation of the plan. These may include improved and more consistent performance, improved coordination and consistency among various segments of the company, greater ability to measure performance, empowerment of the work force, and a better motivated and educated work force. The plan provides a comprehensive framework and direction for ongoing operations.

It is also use to identify the company's strengths and weaknesses, potential problems, and emerging issues. They set forth performance standards on which expectations will be based, and clearly define goals and objectives to allow for coordination and better communication between all company areas. All these elements are taking impart in the industry because it is their map for giving a clearer view about the future struggles and difficulties. All of this is commonly use by the organization, because without this is like putting yourself in war without bringing any weapon to defend yourself, it surely kills you without a fight. Having no Strategic Plan and business Plan is a suicidal, you are putting the company at stake. Therefore, always be vigilant and always be prepared, by doing this will be key to succeed.

Assignment 1: Think yourself worthy to be called as It professionals, how do you see yourself ten years from now, what are your strategies to get there?

Thinking myself being a worthy to be called an IT professional needs an extensive endeavor vigorous motivation. It is not good enough that you just think yourself as a worthy IT professional but it must be a trust-worthy IT professional. Living in the world of technology is not a simple living, you must be adoptive on the techie things and learn to deal and work with it.
I involve myself in IT is not because I am a typical techie gal but just because I want to be part of the new world, the era of new technology. I must help equip myself to the undeniable fast changing environment of technology. I looked out the future as being easy, effortless and tranquil because of the continuous discovering machineries, equipments and gadgets that makes the life of mankind easy and relaxing. So, I must do into technological field that is why I am now an IT student as preparation for may involvement and contribution on making the way of life easier.
Ten years is a very long period of time. In my age now, I am not yet thinking on what and whom I going to be in the future, what is all on mind as of now is finish this course and make my parents family and paid-off all blood and sweat they shed for my education. I really not much farseeing my life will be. I want to unwind and be happy always, think less and savor every minute of the day by doing things that makes me happy. I am not tough and brilliant student in the class but I do not really care that much what matters to be is how to live today and survive. Future for me is just something that may come even we like it or not, its an inevitable event of life, nobody is capable of stopping it nor preventing it. I live as what life gives me, I just a blithe, I just simply go with the flow, just simply waits what tomorrow brings. This is how my life was working on, until the day of realization comes along.
Our instructor asked who will you be after ten years? Then, I was surprised and hit by the question. Yeah right! What I will be in the future and who I might be ten years from now? This question strikes me a lot. Then, suddenly my dream of happy and stable life pop up in my mind, the realization drastically flashing in my consciousness and it is continuous and abruptly awaken me from my deep sleep. It was like an eye opener to me. Now, I see not the temporary world I made to bound myself to live in. This world was built through my cowardice to face the future, afraid to stand alone and live on my one. I was a flimsy to face the reality that someday I’ll drive my own life and make decision all by myself, I am afraid to fail, I am that well-prepared and equipped to face the consequences that might come along with my bare own two hands.
But Sir slapped me in the face (not literally slapped me it just he made me realize a very important thing), hey! Wake up! You have a job to be done. You have a responsibility to accomplish. You have a task to work on. I begun to realize that I am here now in IC because I am to become a worthy to be called as IT Professional in the near future. Asking for my stand whether to go or be favorable between insourcing and outsourcing, it simply depends on the usability, facility, resources and awareness of an organization. Making decision of choosing either of the two must be weigh thoroughly and definitely have the one which much significant and weigh as the useful and convenient of the organization. The organization must have consideration that must be taken and take account to such as financial, user-friendliness and accuracy.

Let’s first make the distinction between outsourcing and insourcing because they are often used interchangeably. Outsourcing refers to the subcontracting practice of taking company business functions and contracting them out to a third party. Outsourcing in the information technology field has two meanings. One is to commission the development of an application to another organization, usually a company that specializes in the development of this type of application. The other is to hire the services of another company to manage all or parts of the services that otherwise would be rendered by an IT unit of the organization.

Outsourcing involves the transfer of the management and/or day-to-day execution of an entire business function to an external service provider. The client organization and the supplier enter into a contractual agreement that defines the transferred services. Under the agreement the supplier acquires the means of production in the form of a transfer of people, assets and other resources from the client. The client agrees to procure the services from the supplier for the term of the contract. Business segments typically outsourced include information technology, human resources, facilities, real estate management, and accounting. Many companies also outsource customer support and call center functions like telemarketing, CAD drafting, customer service, market research, manufacturing, designing, web development, print-to-mail, content writing, ghostwriting and engineering. Offshoring is the type of outsourcing in which the buyer organization belongs to another country.

Outsourcing Vs Offshoring
Generally these questions strikes up when you have a project to outsource or offshore. We often mix both the terms though they have technical differences. Outsourcing is when a company hires some expert or professionals to complete a certain task. This can happen in many cases, including minimizing capital expenditure, high productivity, improved customer support and specialized skill. Outsourcing means corresponding with the provider or an expert within his area of expertise and getting the work done for the same. However, in offshoring a company can outsource its work or project outside the country or anywhere across the globe. The benefit of low cost, educated labor pool and pleasing time zones are diverting the attraction of many SMB’s to offshore their work around the globe. It indicates towards the assigning some particular function of a company to another country, which could be forever or for some given period of time.

Rising Globalization has led increasing number of outsourcing and offshoring projects around the world. 4. Fulfillment, CRM and inventory management.
5. Technology hardware and software.
For example, USA companies are outsourcing software development needs to India and customer call center support to the Philippines. This is mainly done for economical reasons, as it is cheaper for these companies to have the service outsourced rather than done in-house.
Advantages of Outsourcing
The benefits of outsourcing are:
1. Less capital expenditure - For example, by outsourcing information technology requirements, a company does not have to buy expensive hardware and software.
2. Less management headache - For example, by outsourcing business process such as accounting, a company no longer has to hire and manage accounting personnel.
3. Focus on core competencies - Outsourcing non-core related processes will allow a business to focus more on it's core competencies and strengths, giving it a competitive advantage.

Reasons for outsourcing
Organizations that outsource are seeking to realize benefits or address the following issues:[12][13][14]
• Cost savings. The lowering of the overall cost of the service to the business. This will involve reducing the scope, defining quality levels, re-pricing, re-negotiation, cost re-structuring. Access to lower cost economies through offshoring called "labor arbitrage" generated by the wage gap between industrialized and developing nations.[15]
• Focus on Core Business. Resources (for example investment, people, infrastructure) are focused on developing the core business. For example often organizations outsource their IT support to specilaised IT services companies.
• Cost restructuring. Operating leverage is a measure that compares fixed costs to variable costs. Outsourcing changes the balance of this ratio by offering a move from fixed to variable cost and also by making variable costs more predictable.
• Improve quality. Achieve a step change in quality through contracting out the service with a new service level agreement.
• Knowledge. Access to intellectual property and wider experience and knowledge.[16]
• Contract. Services will be provided to a legally binding contract with financial penalties and legal redress. This is not the case with internal services.[17]
• Operational expertise. Access to operational best practice that would be too difficult or time consuming to develop in-house.
• Access to talent. Access to a larger talent pool and a sustainable source of skills, in particular in science and engineering.[4][18]
• Capacity management. An improved method of capacity management of services and technology where the risk in providing the excess capacity is borne by the supplier.
• Catalyst for change. An organization can use an outsourcing agreement as a catalyst for major step change that can not be achieved alone. The outsourcer becomes a Change agent in the process.
• Enhance capacity for innovation. Companies increasingly use external knowledge service providers to supplement limited in-house capacity for product innovation.[19][20]
• Reduce time to market. The acceleration of the development or production of a product through the additional capability brought by the supplier.
• Commodification. The trend of standardizing business processes, IT Services and application services enabling businesses to intelligently buy at the right price. Allows a wide range of businesses access to services previously only available to large corporations.
• Risk management. An approach to risk management for some types of risks is to partner with an outsourcer who is better able to provide the mitigation.[21]
• Venture Capital. Some countries match government funds venture capital with private venture capital for startups that start businesses in their country.[1]
• Tax Benefit. Countries offer tax incentives to move manufacturing operations to counter high corporate taxes within another country.
Disadvantages of Outsourcing
Before deciding on outsourcing your company's business process, keep in mind the disadvantages of outsourcing:
1. Less managerial control - It may be harder to manage the outsourcing service provider as compared to managing your own employees.
2. Outsourcing company goes out of business - If your outsourcing service provide goes bankrupt or out of business, your company will have to quickly transition to a new service provider or take the process back in-house.
3. May be more expensive - Sometimes it is cheaper to keep a process in-house as compared to outsourcing.
4. Security and confidentiality issues - If your company is outsourcing business processes such as payroll, confidential information such as salary will be known to the outsourcing service provider.
Criticisms of outsourcing
1. Quality Risks is the propensity for a product or service to be defective, due to operations-related issues. Quality risk in outsourcing is driven by a list of factors. One such factor is opportunism by suppliers due to misaligned incentives between buyer and supplier, information asymmetry, high asset specificity, or high supplier switching costs. Other factors contributing to quality risk in outsourcing are poor buyer-supplier communication, lack of supplier capabilities/resources/capacity, or buyer-supplier contract enforceability. Two main concepts must be considered when considering observability as it related to quality risks in outsourcing: the concepts of testability and criticality.
2. Quality of service
Quality of service is measured through a service level agreement (SLA) in the outsourcing contract. In poorly defined contracts there is no measure of quality or SLA defined. Even when an SLA exists it may not be to the same level as previously enjoyed. This may be due to the process of implementing proper objective measurement and reporting which is being done for the first time. It may also be lower quality through design to match the lower price.
Quality in terms of end-user-experience is best measured through customer satisfaction questionnaires which are professionally designed to capture an unbiased view of quality. Surveys can be one of research. This allows quality to be tracked over time and also for corrective action to be identified and taken.
3. Language skills
In the area of call centers end-user-experience is deemed to be of lower quality when a service is outsourced. This is exacerbated when outsourcing is combined with off-shoring to regions where the first language and culture are different. The questionable quality is particularly evident when call centers that service the public are outsourced and offshored.
4. Public opinion
There is a strong public opinion regarding outsourcing (especially when combined with offshoring) that outsourcing damages a local labor market. Outsourcing is the transfer of the delivery of services which affects both jobs and individuals. It is difficult to dispute that outsourcing has a detrimental effect on individuals who face job disruption and employment insecurity; however, its supporters believe that outsourcing should bring down prices, providing greater economic benefit to all.
5. Social responsibility
Outsourcing sends jobs to the lower-income areas where work is being outsourced to, which provides jobs in these areas and has a net equalizing effect on the overall distribution of wealth. Some argue that the outsourcing of jobs (particularly off-shore) exploits the lower paid workers. A contrary view is that more people are employed and benefit from paid work. Despite this argument, domestic workers displaced by such equalization are proportionately unable to outsource their own costs of housing, food and transportation.
On the issue of high-skilled labor, such as computer programming, some argue that it is unfair to both the local and off-shore programmers to outsource the work simply because the foreign pay rate is lower. On the other hand, one can argue that paying the higher-rate for local programmers is wasteful, or charity, or simply overpayment. If the end goal of buyers is to pay less for what they buy, and for sellers it is to get a higher price for what they sell, there is nothing automatically unethical about choosing the cheaper of two products, services, or employees.
Social responsibility is also reflected in the costs of benefits provided to workers. Companies outsourcing jobs effectively transfer the cost of retirement and medical benefits to the countries where the services are outsourced. This represents a significant reduction in total cost of labor for the outsourcing company. A side effect of this trend is the reduction in salaries and benefits at home in the occupations most directly impacted by outsourcing.
6. Staff turnover
The staff turnover of employee who originally transferred to the outsourcer is a concern for many companies. Turnover is higher under an outsourcer and key company skills may be lost with retention outside of the control of the company. In outsourcing offshore there is an issue of staff turnover in the outsourcer companies call centers. It is quite normal for such companies to replace its entire workforce each year in a call center. This inhibits the build-up of employee knowledge and keeps quality at a low level.
7. Company knowledge
Outsourcing could lead to communication problems with transferred employees. For example, before transfer staff have access to broadcast company e-mail informing them of new products, procedures etc. Once in the outsourcing organization the same access may not be available. Also to reduce costs, some outsource employees may not have access to e-mail, but any information which is new is delivered in team meetings.
8. Qualifications of outsourcers
The outsourcer may replace staff with less qualified people or with people with different non-equivalent qualifications.
9. Failure to deliver business transformation
Business transformation promised by outsourcing suppliers often fails to materialize. In a commoditized market where many service providers can offer savings of time and money, smart vendors have promised a second wave of benefits that will improve the client’s business outcomes.
10. Productivity
Offshore outsourcing for the purpose of saving cost can often have a negative influence on the real productivity of a company. Rather than investing in technology to improve productivity, companies gain non-real productivity by hiring fewer people locally and outsourcing work to less productive facilities offshore that appear to be more productive simply because the workers are paid less. Sometimes, this can lead to strange contradictions where workers in a developing country using hand tools can appear to be more productive than a U.S. worker using advanced computer controlled machine tools, simply because their salary appears to be less in terms of U.S. dollars.
In contrast, increases in real productivity are the result of more productive tools or methods of operating that make it possible for a worker to do more work. Non-real productivity gains are the result of shifting work to lower paid workers, often without regards to real productivity. The net result of choosing non-real over real productivity gain is that the company falls behind and obsoletes itself overtime rather than making investments in real productivity.
11. Standpoint of labor
From the standpoint of labor within countries on the negative end of outsourcing this may represent a new threat, contributing to rampant worker insecurity, and reflective of the general process of globalization. While the "outsourcing" process may provide benefits to less developed countries or global society as a whole, in some form and to some degree - include rising wages or increasing standards of living - these benefits are not secure. Further, the term outsourcing is also used to describe a process by which an internal department, equipment as well as personnel, is sold to a service provider, who may retain the workforce on worse conditions or discharge them in the short term. The affected workers thus often feel they are being "sold down the river."
12. Security
Before outsourcing an organization is responsible for the actions of all their staff and liable for their actions. When these same people are transferred to an outsourcer they may not change desk but their legal status has changed. They no-longer are directly employed or responsible to the organization. This causes legal, security and compliance issues that need to be addressed through the contract between the client and the suppliers. This is one of the most complex areas of outsourcing and requires a specialist third party adviser.
Fraud is a specific security issue that is criminal activity whether it is by employees or the supplier staff. However, it can be disputed that the fraud is more likely when outsourcers are involved, for example credit card theft when there is scope for fraud by credit card cloning. In April 2005, a high-profile case involving the theft of $350,000 from four Citibank customers occurred when call center workers acquired the passwords to customer accounts and transferred the money to their own accounts opened under fictitious names. Citibank did not find out about the problem until the American customers noticed discrepancies with their accounts and notified the bank.

Point of Views towards Outsourcing if it will be implemented in the university
When we talk of businesses outside world, outsourcing is very prominent. Almost every company adopts this system. The reason is simple, it is said to be the new concept in the business world that develops complex systems, elevates the economic growth, increases the competitiveness and enhances performance of the organization. Outsourcing is a great opportunity especially for the individuals who are lucky to have the job and it’s more advantageous for the company who is doing this kind of strategy. However, school is another story to talk about especially if we will talk about my very own school. Outsourcing could be of help in a way that the school can get programs outside that cannot be found or made inside the school. New ideas, strategies and implementations one cannot get we only rely on in-source. It would free the professors to teach students instead of trying to manage the systems inside the school. The professors would be given more time to spend with their students instead of trying to improve the Information System. The first priority of professors should be to teach and not to create or to manage the IS facilities. It would also lessen the worries involved. All the University has to do is to find a party that offers the services needed for the school including the maintenance/check-ups of the equipment to be used and to allot the appropriate budget for it. Troubleshooting and problems that arise would be the problem of the provider and not of the school. Of course the school will be affected if problems will arise but the solution for the problems should be given by the provider and not by the school.

Outsourcing will be better to our school but not in this time for the faculty and students are not yet ready for this kind of change

Insourcing is the opposite of outsourcing; that is insourcing (or contracting in) is often defined as the delegation of operations or jobs from production within a business to an internal (but 'stand-alone') entity that specializes in that operation. Insourcing is a business decision that is often made to maintain control of critical production or competencies. An alternate use of the term implies transferring jobs to within the country where the term is used, either by hiring local subcontractors or building a facility. Insourcing is widely used in an area such as production to reduce costs of taxes, labor (e.g., American labor is often cheaper than European labor), transportation, etc.
In regards to University issue about insourcing and point of view.
While, insourcing, is the opposite of outsourcing; it means “contracting in”. In insourcing, an entity or a company personnel who can be said to be an expert in the field to be tested is the one who will deliver/create and manage what the university needs (eg. Creating databases or websites). University security and integrity is much more ensured and there will be less irregularities and faster data compilation can be done because the person who is gathering it works in the company, thus he knows how the company functions and what is its exact needs than an person outside the company but I believe that outsourcing offers a lot more.
He’s familiar with the flow, he can figure out the best thing to do. Second, the school can lessen the cost if it will hire person inside, this is very important especially in the case of my school that the fund is very poor. Third, person inside can always do better, they can get ideas outside, and they can develop what they have. And lastly, the school can make sure that the information is safe and protected.
It is less hustle instead easy to access manpower. When the university wants to have outsourcing, they will look for the person/people to do the systems. It's a time consuming and more expensive routine. Rather than searching for an unknown well-being programmers, why not talked to the best programmers inside the university. Next, the system can be easily developed. Since the programmers is located inside, it is easily for that programmer to look for a new resource for the systems he/she made. He/she can observed what the university's needs. And other factors, he/she can suggest new things for the best of the systems he/she made.
Information’s confidentiality. Choosing personnel within a company can assure the company's operations and process kept secret because nowadays, its very hard to find trustworthy personnel. Second, with regard to expertise, we know that there are lots of skilled IT professionals who are working in this institutions, so why we need to get people not working within the company wherein we already have people who can make or perform that particular job.

But I rather choose the insourcing. Why? For the reason of patronizing our own resources. Resources in terms of making use your IT personnel, programmers and technical literate staffs to work hand on hand to make use their ability in making company own system which basically intended to they company alone. It will naturally address on the company needs and do make an accurate solution to solve the difficulty that the company is craving for.
In regards to the university I would suggest that it is better to buy an operated and functional system. Having the bought system and legally authorized to be owned by the university, what we going to do to be considered in inducing insource is when we will be able to develop it and technically improved by our skilled and brilliant staff. In doing so, we paid for the ready to use system but still we are the one who is responsible in developing it, it still cost-effective because we use the university staff instead of purchasing another system to address the future problem exist. It might be good in the part of the staff cause they will be able to practice their expertise at the same time involving into the actual scenario in which will be witnessed by the student and help them be inspired and motivated. It will challenge the staff as well as the student to do their best and yet be involved their selves and be the best.

Combining the two definitions involve which are the Information and environment it entails that just to come up a definition that will suit for the related definition and meaning. The most common method of presenting animation is as a motion picture or video program, although several other forms of presenting animation also exist Even before I am really fascinated about how the anime works and do an amazing animations and transitions. I love to learn how their visual effects are performed and how to make one. This is first encouraging me to get into here to live in information environment. I know that someday if I really involve myself in technology I know I will have this ability to be the best in it, it might not today, not in this place or not in this time but I know it will come and I am very near on it.

I like technical things. I love to know more about hardware and software. I love to know more about computer hardware and software which helps me to fix my pc on my own. I really want to be computer technician too. I want to enhance and optimizing my own pc. 10 Principles of Effective Web Design

In order to use the principles properly we first need to understand how users interact with web-sites, how they think and what the basic patterns of users’ behavior are.

1. How do users think?

Basically, users’ habits on the Web aren’t that different from customers’ habits in a store. Visitors glance at each new page, scan some of the text, and click on the first link that catches their interest or vaguely resembles the thing they’re looking for. In fact, there are large parts of the page they don’t even look at. Most users search for something interesting (or useful) and clickable; as soon as some promising candidates are found, users click. If the new page doesn’t meet users’ expectations, the Back button is clicked and the search process is continued.

• Users appreciate quality and credibility. If a page provides users with high-quality content, they are willing to compromise the content with advertisements and the design of the site. This is the reason why not-that-well-designed web-sites with high-quality content gain a lot of traffic over years. Content is more important than the design which supports it.

• Users don’t read they scan. Analyzing a web-page, users search for some fixed points or anchors which would guide them through the content of the page. Notice how “hot” areas abrupt in the middle of sentences. This is typical for the scanning process.

• Web users are impatient and insist on instant gratification. Very simple principle: If a web-site isn’t able to meet users’ expectations, then designer failed to get his job done properly and the company loses money. The higher is the cognitive load and the less intuitive is the navigation, the more willing are users to leave the web-site and search for alternatives.

• Users don’t make optimal choices. Users don’t search for the quickest way to find the information they’re looking for. Neither do they scan web-page in a linear fashion, going sequentially from one site section to another one. Instead users satisfice; they choose the first reasonable option. As soon as they find a link that seems like it might lead to the goal, there is a very good chance that it will be immediately clicked. Optimizing is hard, and it takes a long time. Satisficing is more efficient.

• Users follow their intuition. In most cases users muddle through instead of reading the information a designer has provided. According to Steve Krug, the basic reason for that is that users don’t care. “If we find something that works, we stick to it. It doesn’t matter to us if we understand how things work, as long as we can use them. If your audience is going to act like you’re designing billboard, then design great billboards.”

• Users want to have control. Users want to be able to control their browser and rely on the consistent data presentation throughout the site. E.g. they don’t want new windows popping up unexpectedly and they want to be able to get back with a “Back”-button to the site they’ve been before: therefore it’s a good practice to never open links in new browser windows.

1. Don’t make users think

According to Krug’s first law of usability, the web-page should be obvious and self-explanatory. When you’re creating a site, your job is to get rid of the question marks — the decisions users need to make consciously, considering pros, cons and alternatives. If the navigation and site architecture aren’t intuitive, the number of question marks grows and makes it harder for users to comprehend how the system works and how to get from point A to point B. A clear structure, moderate visual clues and easily recognizable links can help users to find their path to their aim. By reducing cognitive load you make it easier for visitors to grasp the idea behind the system. Once you’ve achieved this, you can communicate why the system is useful and how users can benefit from it. People won’t use your web site if they can’t find their way around it.

2. Don’t squander users’ patience

In every project when you are going to offer your visitors some service or tool, try to keep your user requirements minimal. The less action is required from users to test a service, the more likely a random visitor is to actually try it out. First-time visitors are willing to play with the service, not filling long web forms for an account they might never use in the future. Let users explore the site and discover your services without forcing them into sharing private data. It’s not reasonable to force users to enter an email address to test the feature. Ideally remove all barriers, don’t require subscriptions or registrations first. A user registration alone is enough of an impediment to user navigation to cut down on incoming traffic.
3. Manage to focus users’ attention

As web-sites provide both static and dynamic content, some aspects of the user interface attract attention more than others do. Obviously, images are more eye-catching than the text — just as the sentences marked as bold are more attractive than plain text. The human eye is a highly non-linear device, and web-users can instantly recognize edges, patterns and motions. This is why video-based advertisements are extremely annoying and distracting, but from the marketing perspective they perfectly do the job of capturing users’ attention. Focusing users’ attention to specific areas of the site with a moderate use of visual elements can help your visitors to get from point A to point B without thinking of how it actually is supposed to be done. The less question marks visitors have, the better sense of orientation they have and the more trust they can develop towards the company the site represents. In other words: the less thinking needs to happen behind the scenes, the better is the user experience which is the aim of usability in the first place.

4. Strive for feature exposure

Modern web designs are usually criticized due to their approach of guiding users with visually appealing 1-2-3-done-steps, large buttons with visual effects etc. But from the design perspective these elements actually aren’t a bad thing. On the contrary, such guidelines are extremely effective as they lead the visitors through the site content in a very simple and user-friendly way. Letting the user see clearly what functions are available is a fundamental principle of successful user interface design. It doesn’t really matter how this is achieved. What matters is that the content is well-understood and visitors feel comfortable with the way they interact with the system.

5. Make use of effective writing

As the Web is different from print, it’s necessary to adjust the writing style to users’ preferences and browsing habits. Promotional writing won’t be read. Long text blocks without images and keywords marked in bold or italics will be skipped. Exaggerated language will be ignored. Talk business. Avoid cute or clever names, marketing-induced names, company-specific names, and unfamiliar technical names. For instance, if you describe a service and want users to create an account, “sign up” is better than “start now!” which is again better than “explore our services”.

• use short and concise phrases (come to the point as quickly as possible),
• use checkable layout (categorize the content, use multiple heading levels, use visual elements and bulleted lists which break the flow of uniform text blocks),
• use plain and objective language (a promotion doesn’t need to sound like advertisement; give your users some reasonable and objective reason why they should use your service or stay on your web-site)

6. Strive for simplicity

The “keep it simple”-principle (KIS) should be the primary goal of site design. Users are rarely on a site to enjoy the design; furthermore, in most cases they are looking for the information despite the design. Strive for simplicity instead of complexity. From the visitors’ point of view, the best site design is a pure text, without any advertisements or further content blocks matching exactly the query visitors used or the content they’ve been looking for. This is one of the reasons why a user-friendly print-version of web pages is essential for good user experience.

7. Don’t be afraid of the white space

Actually it’s really hard to overestimate the importance of white space. Not only does it help to reduce the cognitive load for the visitors, but it makes it possible to perceive the information presented on the screen. When a new visitor approaches a design layout, the first thing he/she tries to do is to scan the page and divide the content area into digestible pieces of information.

8. Communicate effectively with a “visible language”

In his papers on effective visual communication, Aaron Marcus states three fundamental principles involved in the use of the so-called “visible language” — the content users see on a screen.

• Organize: provide the user with a clear and consistent conceptual structure. Consistency, screen layout, relationships and navigability are important concepts of organization. The same conventions and rules should be applied to all elements.
• Economize: do the most with the least amount of cues and visual elements. Four major points to be considered: simplicity, clarity, distinctiveness, and emphasis. Simplicity includes only the elements that are most important for communication. Clarity: all components should be designed so their meaning is not ambiguous. Distinctiveness: the important properties of the necessary elements should be distinguishable. Emphasis: the most important elements should be easily perceived.
• Communicate: match the presentation to the capabilities of the user. The user interface must keep in balance legibility, readability, typography, symbolism, multiple views, and color or texture in order to communicate successfully. Use max. 3 typefaces in a maximum of 3 point sizes — a maximum of 18 words or 50-80 characters per line of text.

9. Conventions are our friends

Conventional design of site elements doesn’t result in a boring web site. In fact, conventions are very useful as they reduce the learning curve, the need to figure out how things work. For instance, it would be a usability nightmare if all web-sites had different visual presentation of RSS-feeds. That’s not that different from our regular life where we tend to get used to basic principles of how we organize data (folders) or do shopping (placement of products). With conventions you can gain users’ confidence, trust, reliability and prove your credibility. Follow users’ expectations — understand what they’re expecting from a site navigation, text structure, search placement etc. (see Nielsen’s Usability Alertbox for more information)

10. Test early, test often

This so-called TETO-principle should be applied to every web design project as usability tests often provide crucial insights into significant problems and issues related to a given layout. “Test not too late, not too little and not for the wrong reasons”, that means that you can’t universally answer whether some layout is better than the other one as you need to analyze it from a very specific point of view (considering requirements, stakeholders, budget etc.).

This is all consideration and principles of how to satisfy user and customer ton the web design you offer to them. This might I use in the future if ever I will be good at making wed designing but as of now, I’m hoping and looking forward that it will be done. This principle is taken from the experience of others, which must be considered by most web designer.

Seven Principles of Software Development

The First Principle: The Reason It All Exists
A software system exists for one reason: to provide value to its users. All decisions should be made with this in mind. Before specifying a system requirement, before noting a piece of system functionality, before determining the hardware platforms or development processes, ask yourself questions such as: "Does this add real VALUE to the system?" If the answer is "no", don't do it

The Second Principle: KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid!)
Software design is not a haphazard process. There are many factors to consider in any design effort. All design should be as simple as possible, but no simpler. This facilitates having a more easily understood, and easily maintained system. This is not to say that features, even internal features, should be discarded in the name of simplicity. Indeed, the more elegant designs are usually the more simple ones. Simple also does not mean "quick and dirty." In fact, it often takes a lot of thought and work over multiple iterations to simplify. The payoff is software that is more maintainable and less error-prone.

The Third Principle: Maintain the Vision
A clear vision is essential to the success of a software project. Without one, a project almost unfailingly ends up being "of two [or more] minds" about itself. Without conceptual integrity, a system threatens to become a patchwork of incompatible designs, held together by the wrong kind of screws. Compromising the architectural vision of a software system weakens and will eventually break even the most well designed systems.

The Fourth Principle: What You Produce, Others Will Consume
Seldom is an industrial-strength software system constructed and used in a vacuum. In some way or other, someone else will use, maintain, document, or otherwise depend on being able to understand your system. So, always specify, design, and implement knowing someone else will have to understand what you are doing. The audience for any product of software development is potentially large. Specify with an eye to the users. Someone may have to debug the code you write, and that makes them a user of your code. Making their job easier adds value to the system.

The Fifth Principle: Be Open to the Future
A system with a long lifetime has more value. In today's computing environments, where specifications change on a moment's notice and hardware platforms are obsolete when just a few months old, software lifetimes are typically measured in months instead of years. However, true "industrial-strength" software systems must endure far longer. To do this successfully, these systems must be ready to adapt to these and other changes. Systems that do this successfully are those that have been designed this way from the start. Never design yourself into a corner. Always ask "what if ", and prepare for all possible answers by creating systems that solve the general problem, not just the specific one. This could very possibly lead to the reuse of an entire system.
Abusing this principle is where I see many developers go wrong. One of the benefits of having both years of experience and many of them on a single project is that you learn the virtues of You Arent Gonna Need It. As developers, we often guess wrong on how a system is going to change unless we are also domain experts. The Sixth Principle: Plan Ahead for Reuse

Reuse saves time and effort. Achieving a high level of reuse is arguably the hardest goal to accomplish in developing a software system. The reuse of code and designs has been proclaimed as a major benefit of using object-oriented technologies. However, the return on this investment is not automatic. To leverage the reuse possibilities that OO programming provides requires forethought and planning. There are many techniques to realize reuse at every level of the system development process. Those at the detailed design and code level are well known and documented. New literature is addressing the reuse of design in the form of software patterns. However, this is just part of the battle. Communicating opportunities for reuse to others in the organization is paramount. How can you reuse something that you don't know exists? Planning ahead for reuse reduces the cost and increases the value of both the reusable components and the systems into which they are incorporated.

The Seventh Principle: Think!

This last Principle is probably the most overlooked. Placing clear, complete thought before action almost always produces better results. When you think about something, you are more likely to do it right. You also gain knowledge about how to do it right again. If you do think about something and still do it wrong, it becomes valuable experience. A side effect of thinking is learning to recognize when you don t know something, at which point you can research the answer. When clear thought has gone into a system, value comes out. Applying the first six Principles requires intense thought, for which the potential rewards are enormous.

For now, these are my ideas. I know this is subject to change as time comes. However, I am certain that I always dreamed of seeing myself in the future working in a big and top company here in the Philippines as a business intelligence analyst wherein my role would be to design and develop company data analysis and report solutions; review and analyze data from internal and external resources; communicate analysis results and make recommendations to senior management. The university is provide a not conducive Internet connection. The connection is very slow, unsecured from computer viruses and limited features and website to browse. Transactions are blocked prohibiting students view video files and listening musics because of the high memory space it consumed. I understand that the government cutting-off the budget of the university, but we are students who have a very wild mind and full of ideas that someway fruitful for self-improvement for maturity. We need a wide concern area to explore in order for us to discover things that can be learned by our own actual practice and involvement. We have to spread our wings but how can do this if many things are prohibited, how can we learn independently, if the university limit the students ground for exploration on cyberspace.

1. Traffic in Internet Connection Management

Traffic in Internet connectivity is one of the problems the university. The network equipment at the hosting company will cycle through each person downloading the file and transfer a small portion at a time so each person's file transfer can take place, but the transfer for everyone downloading the file will be slower. If 100 people all came to the site and downloaded at the same time, the transfers would be extremely slow. If the host wanted to decrease the time it took to download files simultaneously, it could increase the bandwidth of their Internet connection (at a cost due to upgrading equipment).
The greater the bandwidth, the greater it cost. I know that enhancing bandwidth is not be easy be implemented it because it is very costly and the university cannot afford to finance it. But if we are looking for better and fast Internet connection we have to sacrifice if you are so willing to do. If it really cannot suffice to purchase high bandwidth for then do bandwidth management. Bandwidth management is the process of measuring and controlling the communications (traffic, packets) on a network link, to avoid filling the link to capacity or overfilling the link, which would result in network congestion and poor performance.

For many developers, peer review and acclaim is important, so it's likely that they will prefer to build software that is admired by their peers. Highly prized factors are clean design, reliability and maintainability, with adherence to standards and shared community values preeminent.
"The Open Source community attracts very bright, very motivated developers, who although frequently unpaid, are often very disciplined. In addition, these developers are not part of corporate cultures where the best route to large salaries is to move into management, hence some Open Source developers are amongst the most experienced in the industry. In addition all users of Open Source products have access to the source code and debugging tools, and hence often suggest both bug fixes and enhancements as actual changes to the source code. Consequently the quality of software produced by the Open Source community sometimes exceeds that produced by purely commercial organisations." (QINETIQ2001).
1. Reliability
Reliability is a loose term. Broadly, we can take it to mean the absence of defects which cause incorrect operation, data loss or sudden failures, perhaps what many people would mean when they use the term `bug'. Strictly, a bug would also mean failure to meet the specification, but since most Open Source projects dispense with the concept of anything easily recognisable as a formal specification, it's hard to point to that as good way of defining what is a bug and what is a feature. Determining what constitutes a bug is usually by agreement amongst the developers and users of the software (an overlapping community in many cases). Obvious failure to perform is easily recognised as a bug, as is failure to conform to appropriate published standards. Security related failings (exploits or vulnerabilities) are clearly bugs too. Each of these kinds of bugs is usually addressed with speedy fixes wherever possible and Open Source advocates will claim very rapid time-to-fix characteristics for software.
The pattern with closed-source software is typically that a defect report needs to be filed and then there will be a delay before the vendor determines when or whether to issue an updated release. Users of the software are much more at the mercy of the vendor's internal processes than with the Open Source arrangement and the personal experience of the authors is that it can be extremely frustrating to move from the Open Source to the closed model.
"The market greatly values robustness, and the Open Source model, particularly as practiced by Linux, encourages a large market of early adopters (compared to the size of the early market for commercial products) who actively help debug the software. Consequently much Open Source software becomes highly robust at a surprisingly early stage of its development, and mature Open Source products are setting new industry standards for bulletproofness." Stability
In a business environment software is mostly a necessary evil, a tool to do a job. Unless the job changes or more efficient processes are discovered then there is rarely pressure or need to alter the software that is being used to assist the task. This is more or less directly counter to what motivates software vendors who are in the unenviable position of supplying a commodity that does not wear out or age much. The vendors need a stable revenue stream to be able to keep their business going whilst their customers have not the slightest desire to change or upgrade any product that is working well enough to suit their needs. If a software supplier can establish a virtual monopoly and then force upgrades onto its audience (as has been the history of the software industry since the mid 1960s) then the profits can be very high.
Software vendors can apply a number of tactics to persuade their customers to upgrade more or less willingly. Typical tactics include moving to allegedly new and improved file formats (which require the new and improved software to read them) or to withdraw support and bug fixes for older versions after a short period. The problem for users of the software is that they rarely have much control over that process and are left isolated if they choose to remain with older versions that they consider to be acceptable. This has cost and control implications for the business.
Open Source Software is not a panacea in the world of ever-changing software, but the worst effects of vendor-push can be mitigated. The way that Open Source products tend to conform closely to standards efforts has an inertial effect, since standards change but slowly and interchange formats are often particularly stable. As a result, incompatible file formats can be less of an issue. If they are standards-based then they typically aren't an issue at all, and if they are formats unique to the software product — proprietary formats in a sense - then they cannot be undocumented since the source code that uses them is itself published.
In the real world, no business is static and software changes to meet new requirements. A choice to use Open Source software can provide a counter to the pressures to upgrade for the vendor's commercial purposes but cannot shelter every user from any change. Having access to the source code can allow a business to choose to support itself on an old version where necessary and we belive that in general it gives more options and choice to the users. Nonetheless, some upgrading and maintenance effort will always be needed. Putting the choice in the hands of the users rather than the suppliers is hard to criticize.
Auditability
A rarely-understood benefit of Open Source software (any software where the source code is published) is its auditability. Closed-source software forces its users to trust the vendor when claims are made for qualities such as security, freedom from backdoors, adherence to standards and flexibility in the face of future changes. If the source code is not available those claims remain simply claims.
By publishing the source code, authors make it possible for users of the software to have confidence that there is a basis for those claims. Whether this takes the form of an cursory and informal inspection or more rigorous auditing, what's clear is that without access to the source, third party inspection is impossible. At present the industry does not insist on third party inspection or certification, but it's possible that as open source models become more popular then expectations of audits will rise.

"We can easily see that open source software has a distinct advantage over proprietary systems, since it is possible to easily and quickly identify potential security problems and correct them. Volunteers have created mailing lists and auditing groups to check for security issues in several important networking programs and operating system kernels, and now the security of open source software can be considered equal or better than that of desktop operating systems. It has also already been shown that the traditional approach of security through obscurity leaves too many open holes. Even now that the Internet reaches just a part of the world, viruses and cracker attacks can pose a significant privacy and monetary threat. This threat is one of the causes of the adoption of open source software by many network-oriented software systems."
Cost
Most current Open Source projects are also available free of royalties and fees, leading to the confusion around the commonly used term `free software'. Regrettably the English language does not have separate concepts for free-of-charge and free as in unconstrained; other languages are better equipped to describe the difference between `freedom' and `free of charge' (libre vs. gratis). Proponents of free software licences tend to emphasise liberty over cost although in practice the main open source projects are free in both senses of the word.
From a business perspective the purchase cost of software is only one factor; total cost of ownership (TCO) is what really matters. Other things being equal, the solution with lowest TCO is usually the most desirable one. Arguments in favour of low TCO for open source software include:
Possibly zero purchase price
Potentially no need to account for copies in use, reducing administrative overhead
Claimed reduced need for regular upgrades (giving lower/nil upgrade fees, lower management costs)
Claimed longer uptimes and reduced need for expensive systems administrators
Near-zero vulnerability to viruses eliminating need for virus checking, data loss and downtime
Claimed lower vulnerability to security breaches and hack attacks reducing systems administration load
Claimed ability to prolong life of older hardware while retaining performance
Some longer-term claims are more difficult to substantiate yet they need to be taken into account:
Better adherence to standards permits competition in the market, reducing vendor lock-in and consequent monopoly pricing
Availability of source code provides greater continuity and security against
Financial collapse of vendors of key products
Vendors choosing to withdraw support for unprofitable products
Protection against being required to fit your IT strategy to the cash needs of your software supplier
Flexibility and Freedom
Open Source projects have very little motivation to attempt this kind of lock-in strategy. Since there is no commercial benefit to be had, adherence to de-jure or de-facto standards (where they exist) is typically high. Where standards for interworking do not exist, the fact that the source code is published means that proprietary data formats can't be used to manipulate lock-in. This at least partly explains the relative success of Open Source software in infrastructure areas. Many vendors have tried to create web servers to compete with Apache, but because the network protocol used between browsers and the web server is well specified they have had to compete on quality or features rather than through more insidious tactics. Any vendor that controlled the lions' share of the browser and the server market would feel strongly tempted to exclude competitors by proprietary extensions to the HTTP protocol if they thought they could get away with it. No single vendor has yet managed to control both ends of this equation to a great enough degree.
"Open Source software tends to be free of dependency on related products. Purchasers often perceive that the product works best with other products from the same manufacturer. Open Source software offers its users greater freedom to purchase other products, avoiding lock-in to particular manufacturers." (QINETIQ2001).
Open Source software provides further flexibility through freedom.
1. Freedom from a single vendor
Software vendors can go out of business, and they can arbitrarily decide to cease development of a product. How would your business cope if it relied on such a product? Open-source software allows you to retain not just the right to use the software you already have, but the ability to continue to use it as your needs change.
2. Freedom to modify your software
You aren't limited to what one company believes you need. Proprietary software vendors must cater for many different companies, predominantly their own. Open-source software can be tailored for the way you do business. It is usually within the resources of all but the smallest companies to modify Open Source software to suit their own needs (and potentially then to make those enhancements available as a public good). If in-house development skills don't exist, a short email to the project's mailing list will usually find a suitable consultant.

Wi-Fi allows connectivity in peer-to-peer (wireless ad hoc network) mode, which enables devices to connect directly with each other. This connectivity mode can prove useful in consumer electronics and gaming applications.
Many consumer devices use Wi-Fi. Amongst others, personal computers can a network to each other and connect to the Internet, mobile computers can connect to the Internet from any Wi-Fi hotspot, and digital cameras can transfer images wirelessly. Router which incorporate a DSL-modem or a cable-modem and a Wi-Fi access point, often set up in homes and other premises, provide Internet-access and internetworking to all devices connected (wirelessly or by cable) to them. Operational advantages

I Insourcing is a developing or making a system by assigned personnels of the company that responsible and knowledgeable on system development. If the university's programmers and IT instructors that capable of developing and making the Information System will do the job it will be very nice, it is like making use of own resources. It also a challenge to the instructors their ability in their field and do their best to encourage students to do actual practices. State of the Nation of the President Arroyo was informed people about the projects done of the president. She kept on saying that all nations fell the recession that some what unstoppable event of today but we have nothing to worry about cause we can still live by working hand on hand. For me, i cant fell nor see it that we are improving and moving forward. Problems live by decade is still unsolved like graft and corruption and poverty. She gave remarkable words against her critic that challenge them. Who should be challenged she or her critic? I challenge the administration to do something and solve the economic crisis that the country is facing today. I hope that all their promise will not be gone by a wind.

Offshoring Market Experiencing Rapid Growth in the Philippines. Outsourcing contact center work to offshore destinations is experiencing a rapid growth phase with key delivery centers in India, Philippines and central and Eastern Europe experiencing annual growth in excess of 30%. Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is looking for a 40% growth in the country’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry for 2008.

Speaking at the e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition, Arroyo said while the Philippines currently employ 300,000 people in the BPO and contact center industry, she wants these increased by at least 40% to meet the growing demand worldwide. She said the Philippines at present is only second to India in terms of supplying the workforce in the BPO industry, but it has already been recognized as the “premiere global destination for these types of IT enabled services”. “We are proud of what we had achieved but we are anxious to solidify our gains. We’re anxious not to be complacent in the face of rapid change,” Arroyo said. “For 2008, we have targeted to grow our O & O (offshore and outsourcing) workforce by 40% in order to cope with the industry demands and also to achieve a 40% growth rate in the O & O sector.”

Philippines named 2nd top BPO destination in Asia-Pacific

The City of Manila has been named the second top Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) destination in the Asia-Pacific region by the International Data Corporation (IDC), just three months after the Philippines was named as the ‘Offshoring Destination of the Year‘ by the United Kingdom’s National Outsourcing Association last October. Three other Philippine cities have been included by the London Financial Times in the survey of ‘Top Ten Asian Cities of the Future‘, thus validating the country’s position as a major player in the global offshoring and outsourcing (O&O) market. Quezon City ranked 7th, Cebu 8th and Davao 10th in the survey commissioned by the London Times, comparable with cities like Hongkong, Singapore and Taipei which were the top three.

President Gloria-Macapagal-Arroyo announced that her administration has targeted a 40% growth rate in the country’s O&O sector for this year and 40% growth target in the workforce “in order to cope with the industry demands”“These distinctions from the O&O sector and global ICT firms provide our investor friends, who have come to E-services Philippines, with objective third party assessments of our O&O capabilities,” the President stressed. According to the President, the runaway growth of the O&O industry has echoed throughout the entire system, spawning impressive growth on other sectors like real estate, telecommunications, food and retail among others.

The most common BPO services here in the country are call centers, software development, transcription, encoding, animation, human resources, accounting and payroll outsourcing. Outsourcing Revives Philippine Real Estate

Business Process Outsourcing, BPO involves the contracting of a task to a third-party provider. Services include call centers, financial management, software writing, medical and legal transcription of files and even animation. Philippine’s Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Romulo Neri says the Philippines expects such BPO functions to bring in $3 billion in revenues this year, with annual revenues of $10 billion in five years. Industry leaders have placed the Philippines just behind India as the ideal place for BPO investment, thanks to the country’s highly educated, western-oriented, English-speaking population. The government’s Board of Investments expects there will be more than 920,000 Filipinos working in BPO centers by 2010 as businesses expand and new investors come in.

Medical and Legal Transcription Fastest-Growing Philippine BPO Sector

Medical and legal transcription posted the highest growth in revenue among all the sub-sectors in the country’s business process outsourcing (BPO) industry at 97% in 2005. This was shown in the 2005 baseline study of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) on the economic contribution of information technology (IT)-enabled services in the country. BPO industry comprises contact or call centres, medical and legal transcription, animation, software and other BPOs that include management consultancy, hardware consultancy, data processing, financial and accounting services and engineering services.

The industry’s revenue in 2005 totaled to about P109.9 billion (US$2.4 billion), which is higher than year-ago’s P74.2 billion, the survey said. Among the sub-sectors, contact centers had the highest revenue share at 49.4 % or P54.3 billion followed by other BPOs, 29.3%, P32.2 billion; software development, 20%, P21.9 billion; animation, .9%, P939.1 million; and medical and legal transcription, .4%, P466.2 million. Central Visayas economy upbeat in 1st quarter

The central Visayas economy performed better for the first quarter this year compared to the same period in 2006 with the agriculture sector, shipping industry, tourism and ICT-related industries leading the growth.

According to the National Economic Development Authority in the region (NEDA-7), the economy of the region was buoyed by the high performance of the agriculture sector that posted a double-digit increase in production; the rosier performance of the shipping and air transportation sector couple with the continuing upward trend of the construction, tourism and IT-enabled industries in the Central Visayas area. Investments in the business process outsourcing (BPO) and call centers particularly in Cebu remained high in Q1 of 2007. A number of existing BPO companies expanded operations in the region in the first quarter among them Sykes-Cebu and Exist Global. With the very good economic performance of the region, inflation rate eased further to 2.5% in the first quarter from 4.2% in Q4 of 2006 and 7.0% in the first quarter of last year. NEDA-7 report said, this is the lowest recorded average year-on-year inflation rate for a quarter since base year for the consumer price index (CPI) was moved from 1994-2000.

Philippines is Top Choice Among US Companies for Finance and BPO services

Consul General Cecilia Rebong of the Philippine Consulate General in New York, USA reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that a capital markets analyst has said that the Philippines is the top choice among a growing number of major U.S. companies for finance, technology, telecommunications and consumer products, and accounting business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

Consul General Rebong said this was essentially the message of Ms. Cynthia Houlton, Senior Analyst of RBC Capital Markets, in speaking on “Global Sourcing and Finance and Accounting Business Process Outsourcing Services” during a well-attended business networking reception organized by the Business Process Outsourcing Council, the Philippine Consulate General, and the Philippine Trade Office in New York on 23 May 2007.Welcoming the guests who were mostly CEOs, presidents, and managers of major American financial, banking, and investment companies based in New York, Consul General Rebong said, “The reception is only our second offering since the creation of the Business Process Outsourcing Council one month ago, and the goal remains to be to facilitate dialogue, information, and greater understanding of the Philippines Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector among potential global partners.”

The Philippines was selected because of the country’s advantages over alternative Asian sites: Labor costs equivalent to China; lower and more stable than India; prevalence of spoken American English; cultural and social affinity with the US; modern and stable infrastructure such as water, power, roads, telecommunications; large pool of qualified college graduates seeking white-collar employment; access to specialized skills aligned with US professional standards; government support and tax breaks for the industry; and more familiar environment for expatriate trainers and managers than other Asian alternatives.

“The ‘advantages’ clearly show that the Philippines’ attractiveness as a BPO destination is no longer limited to cost-reduction but also to being able to provide global partners with a human resource possessing the right skill sets and competencies supported by a sophisticated telecommunications infrastructure,” Consul General Rebong observed.

Asia-Pacific Business Process Outsourcing Market to Expand 16%

The Asia-Pacific’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) market is expected to be worth 8.3 billion US dollars by the end of this year compared to 7 billion a year earlier, research agency IDC said on Monday. The market is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 16% until 2011 to reach 14.8 billion US dollars, IDC added.

“We can essentially view the BPO market in the region as eithermatured or developing, and within that, English-speaking or non English speaking, each with its unique needs and characteristics,” The Business Times quoted Conrad Chang, IDC Asia-Pacific research manager as saying. BPO end-users are demanding solutions that address their particular needs, Chang said. “Cookie-cutter approaches will not work in addressing region-specific issues.”

The research agency defines BPO as distinct from normal processing services. Outsourcing services such as checks, credit cards and bill processing are not considered to be BPO activities. IDC regards BPO as more strategic in nature and involving transformational activities that align a company’s outsourcing engagements to corporate objectives.

Sun Cellular which is operated by DIGITEL and started in mobile communication services in 2003, has a total subscribers of 1,200,000.

It’s full speed ahead for the computerized general elections on May 10, 2010, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Jose Melo said. nstead of writing on ballots, voters will shade the spaces allotted for the names of candidates. The ballots will then be inserted into the optical machine readers to be placed in clustered precincts all over the country. Melo said the Comelec would pursue the nationwide automation of elections, despite opposition and skepticism from certain lawmakers and information technology professionals.

Afraid of cheating? Cheating every election is never been new to us, but still no change been done. Using this Automated Machine I'm looking forward that it will lessen the cheating this time. Who knows it is what we all been looking for. In many areas of organization the information is very crucial so it needs a proper handle and security. Organizations finds it way of making the information be shared and processed in the clearest way and depart on the intended recipient without any disturbance while in process.
In the field of medicine-Automated EMR and CPOE. In this situational case it elaborates how the process of implementing the new technologies that tackle information being formalized. Implementing is critically process and takes a long discussion before do action proper to address the necessity. I will present a processed that done by the doctors of Indianapolis how the meeting and implementation is addressed. They all consider the possibilities that may cause if it will implement and how it affects if still old method is used in processing the information.

Technologies:

EMR-An electronic medical record (EMR) is usually a computerized legal medical record created in an organization that delivers care, such as a hospital and doctor's surgery. Electronic medical records tend to be a part of a local stand-alone health information system that allows storage, retrieval and manipulation of records.

CPOE-Computerized physician order entry (CPOE), is a process of electronic entry of medical practitioner instructions for the treatment of patients (particularly hospitalized patients) under his or her care. These orders are communicated over a computer network to the medical staff or to the departments (pharmacy, laboratory or radiology) responsible for fulfilling the order. CPOE decreases delay in order completion, reduces errors related to handwriting or transcription, allows order entry at point-of-care or off-site, provides error-checking for duplicate or incorrect doses or tests, and simplifies inventory and posting of charges. Although manufacturers use the term Computerized Physician Order Entry, a more accurate term would be Computerized Prescriber Order Entry.

Based on our adopted organization, the MIS Manager addressed it factorial form. He identified that there are many identified barriers in the Information System or Information Technology implementation in an organization. For what I have read in some articles over the internet, I will categorized in into five (5) divisions in which I think the most important factors, these are the (1) Financial Problems, (2) Physical Problems, (3) Technical Problems, (4) Organizational Problems and (5) Social Problems.

As an elaboration of the division of the obstacle identified in the implementation of Information System, the following are the lists of more specific problems in each category.

1. Financial Problems

Funds should be considered in implementing an Information System in an organization. For this determined the resources needed in the processes, development and maintenance of an efficient system. If we have limited resources we may encounter insufficiency of funds to put into action the desired solution. This includes hardware replacement, software updates and maintenance and as well as funds for the specialized skills training for the company’s staff. With this, we can also determine if we can maximize the usage of Information System within the organization according to the company’s need and its users. In the side of the investors, they may be hesitant to spend money for this project for will be very costly and requires ample time to complete the system yet the results or outcome is unsure. What I can say to the investors in this matter, if we want a changes or development we must take the risk, for business is a gamble, just makes sure that you have all the weapons not to lose in the game.

2. Physical Problems

When we are talking of the physical aspects of Information System we are pertaining to the hardware, software and network topology. Thus, this may involve redesigning the network, hardware replacement in order to have more improve speed and efficiency and as well as the determining the most appropriate software to used. It is the very important framework of any information organization. Effective Information access and use depends on communication facilities such as telephones, Internet, fax, computers, as well as an adequate supply of electricity. Computer literacy is almost non-existent in primary and secondary education. It is very much limited in colleges and universities due to shortage of skilled human resources and computing infrastructure. Using the best physical system must be based on the organization not because of what favorable in the market today. It must be studied thoroughly and technically presents the most credible proposal that address the need of the organization.

3. Technical Problems

IT Infrastructure- Lacking of a shared, reliable computing and network infrastructure to address the needed collaboration for the implementation. When an institution lacks an IT infrastructure there will be a difficulty in operating technology supported programs with consistency from one office to the other or building to building. It also slows and complicates communication among the organization or other institutions

Unrealistic time frames- Some information systems take considerably longer than originally planned. Time delays lead to serious difficulties in planning for and adjusting to changes in operations. Since they consume more time than they expected, the deadline will become a pressure.

Difficulty of data collection and management- Data collection is considered to be the most critical and difficult part of implementing an Information System for it is the foundation of the entire system process. Thus, this convey what the system is all about, its scope and limitations. Proper management of the said data is essential.

4. Organizational Problems- the organization heads set too ambitious goals that require a lot of resources that may not be able to achieve. I suggest that in making the goals of the company they should focus on what are the necessities or focus on the needs of the organization that it must meet the business requirements of the party and it should be brief and accurate.

Unskilled Staff
As mention above, system must be maintained and monitor from time to time and the people who will handle this transaction must be well trained and have an expertise on maintaining the system. Not having this kind of people inside the organization will add up to the barriers to the success of the system.

5. Social Problems- The resistance of the organization and its people to the technology is also a factor that I consider as one of the obstacle. Human resources as the participants to the implementation of Information System should be able to meet or abide the requirements or standards of the company’s specific IS. In planning as well as in the development of the said system, the human resources should participate hand in hand in the process. We can consider the human resources as one of the Information System barriers with regards to its implementation for they are the one who gives the specifications, requirements and standards that help to develop the functionalities of the company. These people are also the one who will utilize, manage and control to be able to acquire the benefits of technology.
Communication is another factor that adds up to the impediments of technology. As what I mentioned above, every participant in the implementation must work together to make sure the success of the desired output is not impossible to attain. Without this there is no guarantee that the system will be a help to the organization or maybe it will just be add to its liabilities. Instead of gaining from what they have invested, they are more likely to lose or worsen the company’s situation.

Last words:
In my opinion the implementation of the new Information technology or Information System is basically based on the company needs for the assessment that need a swift action to make the operation more effective and allow the organization to compete on the other existing companies or organizations. In contrast, the barriers exist because new system needs new manipulation which requires factors that makes the decision-making hard. The presented barriers are positively being overcome through the long run of implementation. It just sacrificing something now, but as the process run along the benefits would be slowly be visible and presto, it’s for company’s improvement.

The class is advised to attend the COMDDAP seminar at the Apo view hotel. COMDDAP stands for Computer Manufacturers, Distributers and Dealers Association on the Philippines, Davao City on July 2-4, 2009. This event is allowing consumer and businessman to converge on the new and more innovative technologies and gadgets that are available in the market. The seminar invited everyone. Setting aside the purpose of marketing and profit, they indulged public awareness that technologies is only at hand. They looked forward on inviting students for the benefit of spreading around shrewdness to new and up coming individuals that will governs to the society in coming years, and it is us! Indeed.

The event has attained the purpose of public awareness, but for some who’s most likely the same as me that knows nothing it really screwed up. It triggered me that the world is now competes what the best, most expensive and efficient technologies the worlds introducing us. I found out it is not precisely the latest of today if give emphasizes on global aspects but still is new to us, for the factor of belonging on being on the third-world country. But still, the seminar was good and nice.

However, the set-up about the venue is not conducive for me, lack of marketwise for having difficulty on recognizing their products because unmanaged and unwise disseminating and allocating their individual booth for displaying. Somehow, other booths lack of good personnel that could helped in communicating and accommodating students like us, to explain and extend student awareness of how and what the gadgets all about and how to deal with it. It was on the display area.

Ng Khai Development is authorized reseller of top brands of projectors, surveillance equipment and PABX systems.

6. Smart Communications Incorporated showcased their wireless broadband service the SmartBro. It is a high-speed broadband internet connection that wirelessly delivers internet service to your PC. It runs on Smart’s newest and fastest mobile network and is available in Postpaid Plans and Prepaid Units.

7. Autodesk, Fox chit Business Systems, Symantec, Trinity Marketing, Word text Systems Incorporated, McAfee and etc.

Meanwhile, weary feet needs some rest, in this moment we decided to precede in the main course which the seminar itself. Though, not really conducive because of the small size of the venue it still did not disturb on the intention of the spectators. The discussion that retained on my mind and lesson learned were the following:

The Jupiter Systems, Incorporated was the host of the 1-2pm exposition. It told and discussed about Enterprise Resource Information and Control (ERICDMS) Brilliant Dealer Management System which involves car dealerships and service transactions. Jupiter Systems, Inc., is a 24- year old software company and one of the members of the ERP systems of the Philippines. Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, Volvo, and Nissan are some of the car companies that are using their system. Their Database Management Systems process flow starts with the pre-sales, then the vehicle sales and last is the after sales. The Jupiter Systems Service Management General Features are Advance bookings or Customer appointments, Operation maintenance or FLAT rates, Repair orders, Repair Estimates, Customer Service History, Technician Time-in or Time-out, Parts requisitioning and picking, Service invoicing, Warranty claims and processing and Field Service Actions(Campaigns).

The next host shared and exhibited was the Thin Client computing introduced by the representative from HP company with tag line HP: Think Big; Go Thin” .Simply tackled about how efficient having this computer than a desktop. They boastfully credited their product as the best and somewhat nicer than the others. Thin Client is of small packages but with great benefits like efficient design and longer life span.

During all the exposition I attended it was all boring for I’m not familiar with all of these but I still managed to comprehend due to the classmates I asked and I thank them, and further readings…My only regrets is not being attended on the last exposition that involved the issue of proprietary and open source…Don’t cry over spilled milk right?! My only consolation was just my classmates attended with that seminar told us something about the discussion and shared their knowledge…Lesson learned aside from stated above is that grab the opportunity of free seminars and symposiums…hehehe

What are the possible risks if you have a system change?

Changes is a completely or partially migrating or transforming from old one into a new one. Everything is changing even people change, no one is exempted. Changes is inevitable. Only thing that doesn't change is changes itself. Change is important, but change must be controlled so risk does not escalate to unacceptable levels. Because more change may mean more opportunity but also more risk. Not only do different parts of the enterprise maintain different views and definitions of risk — within the IT department a fragmented approach to defining and managing risk exists. This does not only involve IT but also involve the company. And it is very important to be aware of it because this can affect the organization.

System change for good of the company to improve accounting, finance, operations management, marketing, human resource management, or any other major business function. The blending of technologies and traditional business concerns is impacting all industries and is really the latest phase on the on going evolution of business. All companies need to update their business infrastructure and change the way the work to respond more immediately to customer needs.

Common Risk in the Company.

1. Lack of top management commitment to the project - employers shifting system for the improvement of their company but forgot to consider some requirements. Employer involvement is not that strong to address the new uprising problem while dealing the new technology. Employer cut down their support because limited management commitment.

2. Lack of adequate user involvement- in newly introduce system only few may know that the company has already shifted to a new system in which few users have been train for it. The possibility that some user may have difficulty in analyzing and dealing with the new system for lack of adequate user involvement and may lead to misinterpret.

3. Failure to manage end user expectations- end-user are important factor to be considered if there will be a shifting of system cause they are the responsible of manipulating transactions. Failure to manage end user expectations may cause downfall of the company in which before implementing new it must see to it that it fits on the end-user and end-user must properly be oriented the new produce system.

4. Lack of required knowledge or skills in the project personnel- this problem maybe address through prover training and assistance.

5. Introduction of new technology- In introducing the new technology to the end-user it might that easy or it needs time for adjustment in which some might can't go after it. Some personnel might become hard for them to shift from the system that they were being comfortable with.

6. Insufficient or inappropriate staffing- some staffs like oldies personnel that fun of using manual operation might not be capable on using the new implemented technology which leads to failure to gain user commitment.

7. Conflict between user departments- the conflict may be visible in every department lead by Misunderstanding the requirements and unclear requirements.

8. LOSS. The risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failing internal processes, people, and systems, or from external events.” While the potential for loss is the centerpiece of risk, some organizations have broadened the scope of their risk definitions to including the loss itself. By coupling the loss with the risk, risk becomes more urgent and quantifiable. In addition, an impact assessment becomes the natural output of an identified risk.

9. UNCERTAINTY. Uncertainty, so often tied to events or forces outside of the organization’s immediate control, opens a Pandora’s box of risks that organizations must recognize and mitigate. By acknowledging the importance of uncertainty and planning for it, firms convert a risk management strategy from the defensive to offensive. The COSO framework describes this as enterprise risk management.
1. Loss of Integrity. System and data integrity refers to the requirement that information be secured from inappropriate alteration. Integrity is lost if unauthorized changes are made to the data or IT system by either intentional or accidental acts. If the loss of system or data integrity is not corrected, continued use of the contaminated system or corrupted data could result in inaccuracy and incorrect decisions. In addition, violation of integrity may be the first step in a successful attack against system availability or secrecy. For all these reasons, loss of integrity reduces the assurance of an IT system.
2. Loss of Availability. If a mission-critical IT system is unavailable to its end users, the organization’s mission may be affected. Loss of system functionality and operational effectiveness, for example, may result in loss of productive time, thus impeding the end users’ performance of their functions in supporting the organization’s mission.
3. Loss of Confidentiality. System and data confidentiality refers to the protection of information from unauthorized disclosure. The impact of unauthorized disclosure of confidential information can range from the jeopardizing of national security to the disclosure of Privacy Act data. Unauthorized, unanticipated, or unintentional disclosure could result in loss of public confidence, embarrassment, or legal action against the organization.

10. SERVICE DISRUPTION. Service disruption approaches the issue of risk from effect rather than cause — forcing IT to recognize the consequences of service disruption on non tangibles such as its reputation and business expectations.

11. Job loss- it is really possible that many may loss their jobs if new technology be introduced for machine may manage and take place the task which was worked by the workers. Employer may favor on the machine for machine for it do task faster and more efficient. This is might unfair but still being practice in business firm.

These presented above risk are just the common and easy detected ones. In the long run many problem may arises but it can be minimized if it will be address as early as possible and find the best suitable solution for the problem. These risk must taken by granted cause it can be reason for company's downfall. It arises in any form of business firms it might be a small enterprise or the giant one.

Green campus computing is a study based on how you can conserve energy and resources but still using the gadget or technologies, practically green campus computing refers to proper ways of using computers.

Some tips to reduce energy consumption:

1.PUTTING YOUR COMPUTER TO SLEEP

When you're not using your computer, you can save energy by putting it to "sleep." When your computer is in sleep, it's turned on but in a low power mode. It takes less time for a computer to wake up from sleep than it does for the computer to start up after being turned off.
You can put your computer to sleep right away by choosing Apple menu > Sleep. You can also choose to put the computer to sleep automatically when your computer has been inactive for a specified amount of time. You can also set only the display to sleep. If your computer is in the middle of a task that you want to let finish while you are away (for example, burning a DVD), you should set only the display to sleep.

2. PRACTICE TURNING OFF YOUR DEVICE
Do not leave the computer running when no one is using it. Turn off your computer when not in use. But if, you still want to relax after a long period of research (and still not yet done) put off your monitor or put it into standby mode. You may also turn off your hard disk before your computer goes on standby, select a time in Turn off hard disks.It is monitor or computer you may turned off to reduce energy consumption other device may have be turned off like speakers when your in silent mood, printers when your not ready yet to print your documents or enhancements when not in use.

3. REVIEWING YOUR ENCODED DOCUMENTS BEFORE PRINTING

It is like hitting two birds in one stone, you will conserve energy at the same time bond papers and ink.Besides electricity and paper, computers use diskettes and printers consume toner. Both of these items are mostly plastic, so throwing them away is wasteful. For rewritable compact disk, instead of buying more you can just reformat and reuse old ones. Most offices have drawers full of old disks, used for either archival backups or containing old versions of software. All they need is a new label and a reformatting; this can save your office money and landfill space simultaneously.

4.INK REFILLING

Toner cartridges, both for laser printers and ink jets, can be easily refilled and reused. Several local vendors and national manufacturers will pick up your used cartridges, refill them and sell them for half the price of a new one, and remanufacture them if necessary. A growing number of campus offices are using these recycled cartridges, with excellent results. Further, printer ribbons, for those people with dot matrix printers, can be re-inked for a small price. Use e-mail as an alternative communication (whether you want it to pass documents to your friends etc.) instead of printing them out. E-mail and fax is efficient and environment friendly because you don't have to write downs bulk mails just to inform others. If you have a fax modem, its even easier to tell your representatives how you feel, either by E-mail or fax. In fact, a fax costs less than a letter! A one page fax takes about a minute to send, which costs about 20 cents for the phone call, while a letter takes 32 cents for the stamp, as well as paper and an envelope. And of course you can do a phone list and fax as many as you like.

6. BE RESOURCEFUL TROUGH UPDATING YOUR PC

Instead, you can just upgrade your computer or peripherals as necessary. Anyone, and I do mean anyone, can install a new modem or motherboard. It just takes some patience and a good set of instructions. Alternatively, you can have a professional do it for a lot cheaper than a whole new computer.

The mother earth is shouting us to wake us that shes slowly ruin. Everyone can have done something to help the environment in your own simple way by conveying the above tips. This can be applied to us students. Please be vigilant enough by doing something to save energy use by simply practicing this tips. Helping mother earth will never be too late if we all will join hand-on-hand working to find solution on the problem and find alternatives to rebirth the earth again. What is Automated Election?

Automated election system — a system using appropriate technology for voting and electronic devices to count votes and canvass/consolidate results.

What are the essential benefits?

1. User-friendly and need not require computer-literate operators.

2. The machine security is a built-in and multi-layer existent on hardware and software with minimum human intervention using latest technology like encrypted coding system.

3. The security key control is embedded inside the machine sealed against human intervention.

4. The Optical Mark Reader (OMR) do have a built-in printer for numbering the counted ballots and also for printing the individual precinct number on the counted ballots.

5. The ballot paper for the OMR counting machine have the quality that passed the international standard like ISO-1831, JIS-X- 9004 or its equivalent for optical character recognition.

6. The ballot feeder is automatic.

7. The machine is able to count from 100 to 150 ballots per minute.

8. The counting machine is able to detect fake or counterfeit ballots and do have a fake ballot rejector.

9. The counting machine is able to detect and reject previously counted ballots to prevent duplication.

10. The counting machine have the capability to recognize the ballot's individual precinct and city or municipality before counting or consolidating the votes.

11. The System have a printer that has the capacity to print in one stroke or operation seven (7) copies (original plus six (6) copies) of the consolidated reports on carbonless paper.

12. The printer have at least 128 kilobytes of Random Access Memory (RAM) to facilitate the expeditious processing of the printing of the consolidated reports.

13. The machine have a built-in hard disk to store the counted and consolidated data for future printout and verification.

14. The machine is temperature-resistant and rust-proof.

15. The machine is not be capable of being connected to external computer peripherals for the process of vote consolidation.

1. In the new OMR system voters will feed the ballot into the machine the next thing we will see is the printed election return. Whether our votes were properly counted we will not know.

Fraud can take place and the voters and watchers at the precinct will not know if fraud has taken place.

4. The Comelec AES has no safeguards against insider-initiated fraud. It assumes that the Comelec and the vendor officials, managers and staff are absolutely honest. It assumes that an automated system will not commit mistakes or fraud.

5.Counting tables can be changed. Since the OMR machines are connected to the Internet, it is possible for an outside party, in connivance with Comelec or system vendor people, to enable an unseen computer to load the fraudulent table.

How do we safeguard our vote?

In order to prevent automated election fraud, certain safeguards have to be instituted. These include:

1. The OMR machines should not have any network connection. The election results should be copied to USB memory sticks, which can subsequently be loaded to a separate PC that will transmit the results to the Comelec canvassing system at the municipality and to the dominant majority and minority parties, as well as to the citizens arms such as PPCRV and Namfrel.

2. The above parties should be provided with their own PCs to be able to produce their own COCs. If the Comelec COC does not match the COCs produced by other parties, a careful review should be done prior to transmission to the provincial level.

3. The verified municipal COC should then be transmitted to the multiple groups defined above. Again, the Comelec COC should be compared with the other COCs and the reason for discrepancies should be determined.

4. The verified Provincial COC should again be transmitted to multiple parties.

The Comelec and Congressional Canvass should again be compared to the parallel canvasses to assure that fraud is minimized as much as possible.

5. Each of the concerned groups should make their results available on their websites for the public to access.

6. It is your honesty that be practiced because if we want a change it depend on us. Listen to what is proper and what must you need things to do to help to have a clean and peaceful election this coming 2010 election.

Own point of view

In my own perception having an automated election is good for us. Nowadays, technology grow faster and bigger and its demand is continuously growing so fast. Third world country like us is really far behind compare to the giants and tiger countries in terms of technology. In these case our prior concerned must be how to compete with this fast changing technology and it must start by having an automated election this coming 2010 election. I do believe that It is not wrong nor destructing if we go with the flow on the new technology that the world offers us like having an automated election. Changes is not soon but it is now let it start on this coming election.

Some may not satisfied about the Automated election for some circumstances that may come along the way. I instantly understand them, but why adapt the new technology it is still the same that fraud and cheating still be encountered its unstoppable unless diminishing all those wicked soul. I stand to have an automated election cause i believe why prolonging the agony about the election credibility if it still fraud prevailing. In automated it gives the result in less than 48 hours, in this short span of time we will have the evil elected in his respective throne.

Changes come from us if all people stand in one philosophy of having a clean and peaceful election it can be it might be not this 2010 election but i know it will come. I don't really closing my doors to a miracle that we will be having a fair and election. In my heart the hopes for electing the right people is at near.

This is the day of submission of the assignment 1 in MIS on the forum. It is also the time that we look for an interview company. Along with our letter without the signature of our teacher we still go visiting the company we chose praying that they may allow us to have an ambush interview with them..

Before starting our journey, we first give a call into the company and asked for approval if they will allow us to have an ambush interview with their IS/IT personnel in their MIS department. We decided that our first destination would be at Lanang in the Phoenix Petroleum company.

Weeeeeeew after a week of waiting!

After receiving the confirmation we immediately formulated related questions. We arrived at the Lapanday Foods Corporation at 3:00pm and ended the interview at 5:00pm. We met the MIS Manager and started interview with him. We have a nice conversation with him.

This conversation was like acquiring about the project and collecting necessary information for the proposal...Aside from the motives of going there, we also wanted to know our interviewer and find out who is he and we earn a good and civil relationship with them. People on the adopted company are approachable and a good interviewee as well..WE have a really god time while we took information and photo in regards to the company...It was really a great time being in their company, they are all nice!!!I supose!

Lapanday Foods Corporation is known today as one of the leading fresh produce growers and exporters in the Philippines; but years ago, its beginnings were planted in a small seed. What can i say about in our first day?

Our first meeting in the subject MIS was good so far. hmmm... We thought we don't have a class for our teacher was not yet in our room it was because of dissimilar schedule, but this small was been fixed easily. what can i say more? let me think!!! aha!!!

We discussed about what the subject about and it components or key areas covers by the word management they were the following: planning, directing, organizing and controlling. The personnel implementing this power is the manager which controlling the people. We have a small deliberation about being controlled or not. He said, that no one can control the person because he has his own initiative on how to accomplish a certain task but we can be directed by. He said do not allow yourselves to be controlled but to be directed by our superior.

The teacher discussed that Management Information System (MIS-I) involves software that helps in decision making, the hardware resources of a system, and people management that enable the department to run efficiently. This is what a MIS composed of. All these work as one for it need for it need people to direct and organize the information stored in the electronic storage which are hardware and software devices.

OUR group interviewed Mrs. Florita L. Oliqario, a HRMO personnel of City Hall. We asked about their concept on the nature of their HRM, she said that they believed that employees are the asset of the company. They give so much assistance and care on their employees. She said at first, when they just got started, their HRM focused limited only on the hiring, recruitment and firing. But, as the time goes by, they decided to expand their functions and management, because now they cater everything which involves about employment and the employees.

they improved their division into many elements which cater the needs of the employees. They have personnel planning department, personnel selection, personnel benefits and welfare, and Human Resource Development Division. These is done for the reason of making a good department and to have the better employees in their company.

The government employees enjoy the benefits like good salary and big incentives. They received their payrolls ahead of time, they can get their salaries through ATM and receives at 10th day of the month and 25th day of the month. it is for the reason that they want to provide a good assisstance on their employeees. She said they have incentives like having a free travel package of php 300 in Davao city and a salo-salo package which they have an allowance of php 100 each. they also have semi-annually evaluation and giving of rewards on their best employee. According to here that they lived on the saying about recruitment that "they accept applicants not of whom they know but what ability of applicants possess". The recruitment process is not easy comply, because applicants should be a competitive all aspects in order to pass on their qualification and be employed. They also have trainings on the regular employees for them to be more competitive and updated about the new facilities and new process. She said that they were strictly said that their employees were trained to face their clients nicely and sincerely, like what they have done to us. they valued their costumers so much. The facilities on the City Hall is very nice because the work place is air conditioned, they have a table and chair for each employee and each personnel possesses a computer with an Internet connection! whahhh! its really very nice to be employed their.

She said that their HRMO is more than enough on her expectation. She is very satisfied on their HRM in City hall.

In my view they have really a best treatment of their employees. Each employee are very happy and satisfied in their job. Because they are really taking good care of the company. the company treated them when they have done a good job in the company to boost up more their eagerness and competitiveness in their work. if you will have a work place like that you may really above to stay in that job. Your service is paid earlier even the service is not yet done. wheew here in the city you can find a company like that! So its really better to get a job in the government office and enjoys their benefits!

Now, is our schedule for visiting our chosen company. We actually do not know what to ask for, because when I asked other group about their interview in their company, they were not really given a nice output. Because their company said, there is nothing to change they have a perfect HRIS in their company. This was the reason I have nothing to say to them. But, because of my enthusiasm, my confident came back.

When we went to our interviewee’s table, he pasted a nice smile, even though we were late. Hehehe. We had our test in OR and it consumed most of our time, that’s the reason why we were late. We explained this to him, and he said its ok, because he just finished his another interview with other student in ADDU, in which we met in the aisle of the city hall.

In our interview, he didn’t deny that they still lacking in their office and that is a website. Based on the interview conducted, he said that they difficulty on having communication with their other transaction with other offices because of not having an access to the said office. He said they tried to make one that might be developed next year.

And we come up to our project. We decided to make a website proposal. After this, we have our snacks outside (street foods). Jovy (one of groupmate) and I decided to attend the mass. And the others went home.

We went to our chosen company to ask there available time about the interview, but unfortunately the said interview was not granted for the reason that he and some of the employees have there practice, practice of something we don’t know. Instead, we set another schedule and he was so pleased to do so. We agreed that interview will be done on Monday afternoon after our class, in which he give his benevolent approval, even he is still very busy at that time but still he was so kind-hearted to please us.

We actually planned our visit day before it was September 10,2008 at the same time but the other group in which he have the same chosen company were set to go there, so we give way (how generous! Chaka lng gud). Our visit is not a waste of time because he gave us their company brochure about their goals, objectives, and brief summary of company history and so on and so forth. That gave us idea how to our first draft in the HRM project.

On this day is the second day of the “BPO-HUMAN RESOURCE RECRUITMENT FORUM”, actually the forum was good for three consecutive days. The forum is really helpful for all the applicants that want to work in the country but serving people outside the Philippines, which we called “BPO (Business Processing Outsourcing)”. Most of the speakers were from the call center side. This is well promoted by their representative, they said call center jobs is very efficient jobs for Filipinos, because we know the language and we are good in entertaining the customers and aside from that we are very patient to them. The benefits being a call center agent are the following: big salary, many incentives and it easy being promoted, aside from that you may also become very fluent on the language more.

There is also job that suits to our course the technical representative, this job is just fixing their computer at home by not actually being their, you may have instruct them what to do and just merely communication to both of you, and then presto! Problem solved. The speaker said the pay is higher than the sales agent.

Their HRM is very good; before they were exposed to work they will be having trainings and orientation about the job you will be taken. After being employed and become regular the management acquire to have a team building for you to have a unity among your group and enjoy even sometimes. Their performance is being monitored always if you have the highest or top sales and performance you may receive something special from the company even to your group were good it has affiliated reward. But if you have a poor performance you will not get fired immediately instead you will undergone again trainings, the chances of being employed in this job is very wide.

The forums also introduce another job that do not have require you to out your house instead work at home, which is the medical transcription. This job is a job in which you have to convert voice message into written message. There has one speaker a blind that is a medical transcriptionist. It is very convenient to anyone who has the computer and Internet, what you need aside from having those devices is your hearing and some sort of learning about medical terminologies and functions. But if you were not a medical literate you may undergo trainings in some of the center whose offer medical transcription jobs.

I learned in the forum I attended is that, jobs are everywhere what you need to do is just find jobs appropriate to you. You may apply online and got interviewed also online, because there is lot of jobs hiring in the Internet and application is through online.

It made your lives easy because of these jobs that is way the Davao promoting these for giving jobs to all Davaoeños.

The forum at the same time jobs fair but jobs offered where jobs about having works outside the country while staying in here. The booth also has their assimilations in which we tried and we enjoyed it. Sir Randy S. Gamboa was also present in the forum but on afternoon only and he also encourage us to listen and ask questions, in which we did. Hehehe all in all its really a new experience to me who haven’t tried any job experienced.

We go home full with new learnings and have a enjoyable experience!!!! Until next time free forums and seminars in HRM, we are looking forward for that.

SEPTEMBER 5-6,2008

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

This is our IC festival but we still have lot of paperwork to comply in HRM. This day we presented our Gannt chart because yesterday Sir Gamboa is not around and our Gannt chart was not check yet, so the checking was done Friday morning. But instead of having fully enjoying we revise our Gannt chart. After being checked, some of my groupmates went to our adapted company to ask permission to conduct again an interview and observation about the proposed HRIS that is the HRM project.

FESTIVAL EVENT:

This is my unforgettable festival because it left me a reward worth remembering!

The reward I got was a wound on my forehead because we played “Patentiro”. This game is not really part of the festival games it just our pastime. We don’t join any activities that are way we try to keep ourselves busy, so we decided to play patentiro. At first it’s good and enjoyable until the accident. Huhuhu it really hurt so badly. My classmate and I bumped each other. My forehead bumped into the teeth of my classmate. I got small gush while she got her teeth aching. But now I’m ok, no serious damage it just the shame I got, Im to old to play and its inappropriate in my age. Huhuhu its really embarrassing.

As what other said, its still a long day, so enjoy supporting our classmates and schoolmates on their game. We played volleyball too but just for fun not for competition.

At night is really cool even no faculty as side from one who just visit a while still it really fun. The jokes and jingles about our failures and our tremendous experiences in our college, though embarrassing but that is truth and we have no choice but accept it and try it again. We were have really good time.

Living in the right ways is not easy it is difficult to pass through. It needs lot of perseverance and faith. After surpassing all of the circumstances, as a return you may build self-respect and the respect of others.

Being generous not all by means of money, it may also one of the factor but not as a whole. You may be generous by simply give the gifts of your precious time and amazing abilities to others.

We must have to bear in mind that last night is just a part of yesterday and today is another day and a new start. Greatness is not measurable by your accomplishments and achievements, it is how you stand up everything you fall. Overcoming on one’s failure is a vast gift for your self. It is good to fail as long as you know how to cope with it, and later, you will know what to do next.

6. CHOOSING GOOD FRIENDS.
It is better to have one good friend that you can lean and rely on in times of need, than to have a millions in name only. In choosing a friend be cautious for there are some may use you for their security sake, and be vigilant even to your best friend as what the saying says, "your best friend is also your best enemy" for they know most of your secrets and weakness that he may use that to defeat you or falls you down.

5. LOVING OTHERS IN SPITE OF THEIR FAULTS.
This kind of love is the highest form of loving. Loving in which you are willing to get rid your pride to accept his/her real identity in spite and despite of his/her shortcomings. Loving without boundaries and limitations is what all been searching for, because it is one in one hundred you may find the right partner that may have you through thick and thin.

4. LIVING PEACEFULLY WITH OTHERS.
Conflicts robs you energy and motivation. This means that conflict brings nothing but notary chaos to you and to others. Peace of mind is the best sleeping pill.

Dear Mama,

Ma, I am just a damn daughter to you, I just destroyed your dreams, ruin your life and gives you a miserable life instead of fairytale living. I am the black sheep of the family and a burden to you. I always do things I want. Yeah, I knew it that it hurts you, I always wanted to hurt you in that way I can take my revenge to you. Do you know why? It is because you don’t have time for me. You don’t see my importance as your daughter instead you just keeping me to be one of your followers that follow everything you say with open arms and with a head bow down.
I always take you for granted and if hard days comes you always there, but still I despised you. I really don’t care about what you fell at all; I just care of myself alone, care and listening just myself alone. I never tried to listen to your reminders, requests and counsels instead discard it and retort to you instead. I give you shit for your goodness and take you a way every time you come near to me, I build a barrier between us. Everything I give to you is heartaches, agonies and pains. I always ask but return you nothing, you always tried to be good but instead of thanking you, I do discriminate and rebut you.
I always get you upset for the reason of catching your attention and likewise to Papa. I just want you to know I’m here, hello!?. I’m here in front of you knocking that please notice me notice the good in me not my clumsiness, failures and rudeness. And still you don’t hear it. That’s way I keep on doing bad things and shows it to you. Yeah, it’s very effective, I have you for a meantime, at last you notice me, you talk to me, I fell that you are here again with me. You know Ma, I’m just jealous to others, whom have a great family bonding. They were very happy in each other’s company, you can see it in their faces. They are very sweet to each other they share jokes, opinions and everything about their experiences on that day, they talks as if there’s no tomorrow. They laugh together and very very happy. Does it happen to us? No it didn’t. I can’t remember that we’ve undergone that. What we usually do is fighting and insulting each other. I haven’t heard you say that you love me even ones. I don’t remember that you hug me tight and kissing me. You are very cold and numb. You are very busy of your business and go home late and tired. Most of the time when your home you’re scolding us if not your sleeping, you really don’t have time for us. You want us to understand you, but youdid not tries to understand us too?
Ma I do love you, I really do. It just you are very hard to approach because there once I tried to come near to you and started to be sweet to you, you haven’t like it instead you said do you want something? You know Ma it crushed me into pieces, I said to myself I will never do it again, I don’t want another embarrassments again. There was one time when I gave you a letter, its valentines day and our teacher asked us to wrote a valentines card and gave it to the one we love. So, I decided to make one and thinking that you would like and appreciate it but what had happen was you take it for granted and put it somewhere and it was blown away. Starting that day on, I promised myself never to make a letter again address to you. Because it truly hurts ma, it crushed me to death, it’s like being toasted in the oven toaster, and the feeling of neglecting is what really I felt that time. Even through I was in elementary years that time, I matured a lot from that experienced, I still can’t forget it, it always come back in my memory. There was once also that I tried to be nice with you and trying to be sweet through hugging and kissing you but you get angered with me because you were very tired that time and you don’t want somebody to disturbed you. That time also I started to hate you for ignoring my effort. I thought that you would be glad of what I did, I just try to ease your wearisome, but you take me a way. I’m afraid to you because you are cold-hearted Ma. You never tried to come near to me, talk to me and exchanging thoughts with me. You do no action for us to be in good terms again. This is the day that the group decided to make our Gannt chart. We haven’t do the Gannt chart early because no one ( my BSIT-3 evening class before) have the idea what a Gannt chart is, and Sir Gamboa didn’t explain so much about it. Sir Gamboa let us discover it by our self. When some of my classmates ( third year regular) finished their projects, that’s the only time that we got an idea what a Gannt Chart is, what for.
He made our Gannt chart in my boarding house while we were making the project we tried to enjoy ourselves, even it is not easy to schedule your activities still things run out smoothly and good.
When we were already done, my group mate volunteered to pass it. And at exactly Sept. 04, 2008 at 4:45pm.
unfortunately Sir Gamboa was not around so we decided to left it in his table!!!

SATURDAY

This is my most awaiting time, our last meeting in our subject. It’s not actually that classes are already ended, but kindly like that. It happens because our teacher believes that learning is not only found inside the classroom but also learn how to live in the real world. Instead of having a class discussion about theories and a mere imagination about the topic discussed, why don’t we have it in reality? This is how our subject HRM in USEP under Sir Randy S. Gamboa being held.
We do have an actual class outside the university by having visit companies asked, observed and learned strategies that best used to get hired and being a good and productive asset of a company we will be hosting someday. Its not only let us just be a merely dumped flaunt but to be a responsible worker to whom that we might get served. The said activity molds us at the same time processing us to eat our ass, oops its not what like that.@#$ I mean to be people what we meant to be.
We do have miss conception if we may say life is just a piece cake, this is one of my learnings, like asking for a favor from a top people for allowing the group lend their time and talent for entertaining the group requirements (to conduct interview into the assigned topic). The feeling is like a bread in a oven toaster, you are being toast in their gazes and throws questions. But all of these gives an idea how to behave next in facing people it might be just a simply an employee or the big bosses. Our patience and perseverance is being test, until such time that it take like hell. In such a way that you almost losing your hope, for in real world, asking favor needs much effort and style to win the heart of the people you need the most.
I also learned to create some sorts of lies just to catch their intention, like listening to what they have said even its half-truth, you still have to keep focus and interested, sometimes you must have to throws compliments to boost their egos and win their hearts.
However, it helps me realize that all we are doing of today affects our future. Thanks to you sir for taking off the blindfolds, the blindfolds that covers our eyes for quite so long. Keep going sir and have a nice day to you. And also to my classmates and everyone that might accidentally read this hope that you enjoy reading all my sentiments! FREE TIPS IMPROVING STUDYING RESULTS

STUDY IN SHORT, FREQUENT SESSIONS.

It has been proven that short burst of concentration repeated frequently are much effective than one long session. So, even if you have 10 minutes, do it. Take a break. Then study another 10 minutes. This Distributed Learning approach is highly efficient because it honors the way the brain likes to work. The brain needs recovery and recharging time for “protein synthesis”. The rest periods are when your brain assimilates your effort. They are powerful tool, which many teachers do not acknowledge. To sit and study for hours and hours is not only boring, it creates fatigue, stress and distraction. You cannot learn if you are fatigue, stressed and distracted.

TAKE GUILT-FREE DAYS OF REST.

This follows the same principle as above, but on a longer daily time cycle. The reason for resting is to refresh oneself. However, if you feel guilty (“I really cant study) then, your precious rest period has been used to create more stress. The brain will not absorb new data if it is stressed. On days off from studying, really enjoy yourself and do not feel bad about studying.

HONOR YOUR EMOTIONAL STATE.

Do not study if you are tired, angry, distracted or in a hurry. When the brain is relaxed, it is like a sponge and it naturally absorbs data without effort. If you are emotionally stressed your brain literally repels data. Forcing yourself to sit and study when your mind is on other thing is a complete waste of time!

REVIEW THE SAME DAY.

When you learn something new, try to go over the points and then make
efforts to review the material it will seem much familiar. However, quick reviews later in the day tend to cement the information into your brain so that next “official” studies session; you will recognize it and it will seem easy.

5.OBSERVE THE NATURAL LEARNING SEQUENCE.

Think of the activities you did when you were in nursery school. Using your whole arm, you probably the song goes: “put your right hand in, put your right hand out”. Then, in kindergarten, using your hand, you might have been asked to draw lines or circles with crayons. Later, in first grade, now holding the pencil with your fingers, you drew smaller lines and circles to create letters. Believe it or not, this natural learning sequence, moving from large to small, coarse to fine, still remains effective even though we are now older. When you study, if you try first to grasp the big picture and then fill in the details, you often have a more likely chance of success.

USE EXAGGERATION.

Why does a baseball batter warm up by swinging two or three bats? Why do runners sometimes strap lead weights to their legs? In both cases, exaggeration during practice makes the final result seem easy. This concept can be applied on studying anything. For example, if you are studying spelling, exaggerate the sound of the letters to help you remember them. So for studying purposes “naïve” would be pronounced “NAY-IVY”. By getting, used to this exaggerated pronunciations, the correct spelling seems obvious.

PREPARE YOUR STUDY ENVIRONMENT.

If you require certain elements in your environment to help you study, try to always make this priority. For example, do you need special lightning, silence, music, privacy, available snacks, etc.? Pay attention to what works for you and repeat it each time you study for best success.

RESPECT “BRAIN FADE”.

It is normal for the brain to have an attrition rate and forget things. This does not mean that you are stupid! Instead of getting mad about this fact, you should expect it and deal with it accordingly. See your self as the depositing layers of knowledge. As you place more attention on top, the lower levels become older and less available to your immediate recall. The trick her is simply to review. Since we can anticipate the eventual fading of our memory, creating a review aspect to your study session will solve the problem. Once every two or three study sessions, simply review older material that you will still need to remember. Often, a quick overview is sufficient. Sometimes, a complete detailed study session of the older material is required. “Brain fade” is completely normal (Unless you are gifted with photographic memory, which is extremely rare). Our brain has two kinds of memory: the long-term memory and short-term memory. The long-term memory is memories that not easy fade like special events of your lives; you may reminisce the special event it takes long time. The memory is already cemented in your brain, while short-term memory is that memory that easy forgotten, for the brain store the data for a while. For example, your lesson in the school you may remember the lesson after you study and while having the test, but as time goes by, what you had studied is already forgotten after few days.

CREATE STUDY ROUTINE.

Generally, if you scheduled certain times of the day to study, you will get into routine and accomplish more. If you just “fit it in” during your day, chances are there will never be any time. An effective way to do this is to literally mark it down in your date-book calendar as if you have an appointment, like going to the doctor.

SET REASONABLE GOALS.

One of the main reasons why people don’t reach their goals that are manageable, even if they seem too simply, you get in the habit of accomplishing them and gradually you can set higher goals. Also, recognize the difference between long-term and shot-term goals. Set your vision on the long-term dream, but your day-to-day activity should be focused exclusively on the short-term enabling steps.

AVOID THE FRUSTRATION ENEMY.

Ironically, the quicker the person’s nervous system, the faster learn. Yet, this fast nervous system also works overtime in being self-critical. So they are the ones who always think they aren’t going fast enough! In contrast, the “type b”, less intense person who learns slower yet is more self-accepting, end ends up ultimately learning the material in a shorter period of time. This is because he/ she doesn’t waste energy blocking, getting upset, and thinking that they are not good enough—they simply keep moving forward at a slower 9but unblocked) pace.

What and why does a president giving a SONA?

The SONA is a privilege given to a president where he/she is holding an office. Here he/she can state his/her achievements and accomplishments, country’s improvement under his/her administration and also stating his/her plan for the future.
In this way he/she can reach out his/her countrymen. As a typical Filipino and a bonafide citizen of the Philippines we are required to listen to our president speech to find out what he/she had accomplished and to evaluate his/her future plans.

In relation to HRM subject, economics has something to do with the human resources. Economics and HRM are partners. If the economic is unstable, people also feel instability in their living but if the economy is stable and progressive, people may get rid in poverty and may live in prosperous life.
In the assignment given it asked three areas of the SONA which concerns in HRM. In my opinion their main concerns are: the basic needs and consumption of the people, health insurances, and stability of the businesses and employment rate.
The basic necessities and consumption of the people affects HRM, because in HRM it involves needs to motivate the employee to perform well to earn for survival. It is the primary reason why people must work to earn and to buy his needs and wants in life. And if the economy is prone of increasing goods price but there is no wage hike, it truly affects their performance if their income is insufficient to them. It may cause of protest if the management won’t accept their request for wage increase. It may result chaos between employee and employer or it may become the reason of turnover of employee to his job to look for highly compensated job. In industry, company may undergo downsizing to address the employees’ request.
I include the health benefits in the three areas concerned in the HRM it is because if the employees are healthy the company also becomes healthy, the same as what saying “health is wealth”. If the employees are mentally, emotionally and physically healthy they may more effectively and it may reduce their worries for the future in ensuring their health condition. Our President promotes their program nationwide; some of the indigent beneficiaries largely come from West and Central Luzon and Ilocos and still spreading this program in the poor provinces.
Business stability also does affect transaction in HRM because human rely on the company. If the company is unstable and unproductive this may cause bankruptcy that leads on downsizing or worst closing of the business.
In the SONA of our honorable president she addressed about investment and investing. The government budgeted of php 350 million training partnership with private sector should qualify 60,000 for call centers, medical transcription, animation and software development, which have projected demand of one million workers generating $13 billion by 2010.

I just hope that all of this hopes and promises will not be forgotten and not just vanished like a wind. I hope that our government and our people will work hand on hand for the benefit of our own progress and for the brighter future of our new generation.

“The Real Score”

Who truly surmount the world, you or me? Nobody can tell it just you must learn to adapt the sensible changes happening surrounds you.

Time passes so fast that I did not notice that I am already behind to others. I thought everything is fine; I have nothing to worry about. Everything is like a piece of cake for me: anything can be controlled. Word hard doesn’t exist to me. I let time passed for there are many next time. I made “no” into “yes” because I follow no other laws for I am the law. I take no other master for I am the master. I take everything for granted for I deserve only what is the best. I see myself as the lord of the world for I am powerful. I overlooked people under me in such a way that I recognized no one. I foresee that I am in the top. I have born just to heir and take control the world.

So, I decided to make a manuscript of my life. I settled up a fairytale life. I chose the most picturesque location where to shoot the movie of my life. I assigned myself as writer, director, and proofs man at the same the best actor of my own written story. I play it beautifully and gracefully until I realized how boring this life would be. It goes with the flow of living happily ever after story, no challenges, no sufferings and everything are dull. It is very animated, too much fascination (It is my realization when I got older).

So, I dumped the first manuscript and started a new one. I sketch and figure out a deeper story. I learned that I should make it more realistic; I must involve other actors and actresses played for different characters. When they came and performed I learned to fake smiles for I have to appreciate them---physically. I feigned affection to be part of the circle. I became cynical about love for the love portrays mockery. I stated to wear other shoe in order for me to be accepted. I totally lost my identity. Everything I see is pessimistic. I apprehend only the best pretender survives. I found out how harsh my life would be. So, I decided to dump it too.

So, nothings left for me but the two old dumped manuscripts. I start scrutinizing and analyzing what’s wrong with my past writings. I compare, contrast and evaluate for I fabricated a slouch life. I have found that it is all lie. The first one, I just planned for happy long hours of sunny days but presaged the storm, expecting rainbows though unprepared for rain and left no place for grief and could not foresee pain. It is living in fairytale worlds in which only exist in the mind of the imaginative writer. While the second one is living in the cruel world in which life is full of lies and mockery. It makes me vain and better.

I realized now life is unfair, it is unpredictable. Nobody have the power to dictates or appoint which things to be done. I prepared a master plan of my life for the future without thinking the possible circumstances, obstacles, and hindrances might come along my way. The set blueprint I had made is about gaining without losing, successions but full of pretensions. I am lost; I am confused which way to be taken. This is our scheduled for our interview in the City Hall HR department. The director is Mrs. Laperacion A. Daplin and she offered us her HRIS personnel Mr. Bobit Nasella.

When we asked their cooperation about our intention of having interview to them well, we don’t any problem. The Directress is very hospitable and nice. She accepted our request and allows us to proceed on our intention.

The interview that is Mr. Nasella is a gentleman and approachable. He is one of the System analysts of the HR department. He graduated at Bohol but didn’t specify where. And we haven’t able to back-up personal questions because his not comfortable to talk about it, so we decided not to ask too much of his profile.

And we proceed to our purpose. Our purpose on conducting the interview is to gather idea bout the application about HRIS aside from theoretical area for having an active sharing in the class. He said that HRIS caters two categories in their office only: the permanent employees (plantilla) and the non-plantilla (not permanent employees it might be co-terminus or temporary). Their HRIS coves the operation of office standard processes like Personal Database records, personnel selection, Hr training, Benefits and administration, performance management and etc. He said that the system should satisfy the needs of the client. This is really their main goal so they have to work hand in hand because in making the system is not advisable that only person makes but it better if it done with others, he said two heads is better than one. The next step is identifying what necessary system should be made. The design of the system is based on the needs of the company. He just said that programming is the last part of the process.

He said that HRIS is very important in the company for it makes thing go easier. It is very useful in the company. Their system is design for the employment in which it is easy for the end-user to access in the ready-made database system in viewing and appending new information or data. He said that their system is not that high technology like in the foreign countries but tried their very best to be updated on latest technology, besides they undergone trainings and seminars for effectiveness of HRIS. MS Sequel is the system they were using and they also avails the free platforms available in the Internet. But they have undergoes researches for the improvement, they have room for improvement.

We have lots of information gathered in the interview and really better we you talked to professionals than just simply read. This strategy of Sir Randy Gamboa is very effective on the learning pattern of the students.

This is the day that we decided to visit our first choice IT Company that is the SIX ELEVEN CALL CENTER. The company is not actually big; it has a little space but well enough for the employees to operate. Its a two stories building but based on my observation it’s a commercial building, and they just rent the place. It has many computer units (of course it’s a call center). It is not totally a call center but also it’s a training school for English language.

When we visit we were not entertained first instead we waited for their transaction with the applier to get finished. But we understand it, (who we are by the way?// haler!!!). I heard in their conversation that we are discussing about the allocation after they finished their training for almost one month, that they (applicant) may proceed to be a call center agent or instructor if they have a good and it satisfied on their qualification, it just defend on the performance. The training is worth php 6,000.00 but they have discount if you will bring someone to apply too, you will be discounted of php 1,000 instead of php 6,00 you will pay only 5,000.

The interview was not gone through into our report but we just still try work it out good and its end partly good. The interview was not that efficient because the persons we got interviewed were not really the HRM personnel but the Directress and her assistant. The company we visited is only branch so, the coverage of the scope is limited like they cant totally manipulate the HRIS but they were considered as the End-User of the program. If they have new applicant or employee/s they will have to add the personal information into Internet goes through to their office, they were not responsible on the creation of HRIS. Instead we just asked them about their HRM, how it goes? They answered as far as now well it runs smoothly no problem encountered. We tackled about the acceptance and discharge of their employees.

In this interviewed it wasn’t suits in our objectives that’s why I don’t like of what the results. So, we decided to proceed into our second company in that is the City hall HR department. In this day after our interview we went into San Pedro into The City hall HR department and assigned schedule for our interview…. And it’s being my next journal! Hehehe ( just to have lots of journal).

In this day our group in HRM subject decided to work in our project which is to look an IT industries and conduct a case study about their Human resource management.
Our group decided to divide our group into two. The first group were Kathy Feranil, Jovilyn Sandoval And Jeanette Japitan while I (Venus Millena) and Ilyn Mapalo is assigned as the second group. We do this enable us to get or to have many referable industries because based on past experienced of the former student of HRM, the said it wasn't easy to ask permission for the company.
Our journey is not became so easy. In our experienced , we need to walk along just to look a company. After we found an IT industry you need to beg and ask their permission allowing to conduct a case study in their company, After a long hours of discussing our objective and discussion that this study is for our study in HRM mostly refused in our request, they said that they dont have time for an interview others don't care about HRM, but this did not discouraged us instead it boost us to look for other company whose broad-minded and willing to help us,
Whewww its really very tiring and hot walking along...huhuhu!!! After few hours of pleading and convincing ..wheew finally we found two IT companies: the Six Eleven Call Center and City Hall.
This is our first visit of the company. We just purely asking their approval and consent. Next day after we sent them a letter.

A company, corporation or organization needs human resources to manage, develop, control and administer their businesses. Even if technological advancement and innovative systems are present today, its still needs a man to administer and manage this device.
But this potentiality, capability and creativity of man are mostly neglected, least understood and worst managed. The organization must take good care of their human resources for they benefit so much on the great labors of their employees. They should give incentives, compensation and good wage on their employees. In unity their is strength, if the employer and employee have give and take relationship to achieve best result and success of the organization.

Ours is wrong, should be judged, belittled, ridiculed? but we have lived this way.

It started some wondrous years before, he is my physics teacher in high school. I despised him for no reason cause he looked so confident, self-assured, things that i really like.. its contradictory that I hated people with things I like... jellyfish. But I realized, that I'm just mesmerized,,, wow,, what a rhyme. I used to stare at him whenever he is angled sideways, been so careful not to be noticed by him and by classmates who also got a crush on him. His eyes were crystal clear, drawing, magnetic, jaw dropping body, voice- a mixture of cold and melancholic tune that will explore my senses. He is indeed very attractive, not to mention his irrefutable intelligence. He is eleven years my senior, he is twenty seven, I'm sixteen. He never really noticed me. So everyday, I tried to do everything to be somewhat excellent to get his attention. My intellectual guise enormously succeeded. He always called me during recitations, and during free time whenever we crossed ways along corridors, it seemed that somehow he likes me too, imagination? could be, but I thought he just need to be discreet to keep the merit of his profession so as not to invite me to the cafeteria maybe..to avoid gossips. hush.. ambitious me.
Days passed till it reached January, 2.5 months before graduation. fearful as I'm, I risked... I sent him a note, unnamed , I put this on his table before the class will start careful enough to attract anyones attention, saying:

"I had always liked you,and this maybe had transformed into love. this could be wrong, but then before I'll die i was able to extend this crazy feeling."
My heart leaped when I've seen him unfolding the crazy message, he didn't react, much to my disappointment and also much to my relief. Paradoxical feeling swallowed me into deep euphoria that maybe someday we could be together, but that is impossible, everyone will judge and even persecute the thought of us being @##$$$!. but whatever it is, i still cant stop holding on to this dream, farfetched it maybe.. but what if!!!! so i sent him a note the next day, this time in our dialect + engtagbish....

" hi sir, nabasa na nimo aQ message gahapon ...u didnt react man, sorry sir , but di man gud xa mapigilan, di sad ni xa puppy love, bsta, di nQ ma explain pwo kbalo Q Love ni. have a nice day, luv you."

I sneaked it the way i have before, maybe I'm just lucky not to be noticed with everyone. But of course, I tried so hard to change my handwriting.

I've seen him eyeing the paper, he read it, this time he threw it on the trash can.
He's getting more attractive and yummier everyday... when he's back is at us when he's scribbling something on the board, its like I'm deep seat belted on my chair dying to touch his nape... am i getting maniac, but maybe this is not abnormal, my classmates already have their "friends" and some are doing it young as sixteen... people said that i look attractive, a nice package they used to say ,some also tried to "win" me, but i would only feel attractive if Mr. Physics will be the one to notice me. My beloved Mr. Physics, fantasized and dreamed. impossible....
Well now it seemed that my intellectual guise is not working anymore, i got the highest scores but he kept on calling Meg, she is also one of the brightest in the class... the potential valedictorian along with me and Buddy. I found my self in deep envy.. she is very pretty with skin and body to die for. But its not that my Mr.Physics is "eyeing" her, maybe im just insecured.

I, again sent him a message:

"I looked at you everyday.
though i know its not okay...
this could not be right,
but this could also not be wrong.
take care always.

This time, he put the message on his case... I felt nervous. bloody hell!!! but hey I'm not British, sus!!! ambot!!!

One Sunday, I strolled along the beach all by myself for since I eyed my Mr.Physics it seems I'm getting to be a loner. I tried to pick up a deformed shell, but then as I tried to reach it, a hand got it already just in time for me to hold it.

He said - "gusto mo to?"
am i hallucinating? why is he here, Im dumbfounded, speechless, trembling.... richer scale no.7 !!!! (help!!!)

me: hah, uhm sir na lge ka dri, kinsa imu kauban?

Mr.physics: aQ friend (bze girlfriend) (envious feeling inside again but I understand, I never really get furious to the thought of him with attractive women....normal Lng gud,, boobs ra man jud gud q mapiLdi bah ug ang ..... basta)
so a mujer just appeared into the tumultuous scene of mine..

Much to my disappointment the girl is really nice,,, its ok sna if she's not so I'm gonna be not remorseful, hay. she even said Im good looking... gosh!1! and opposite sex will be chasing after me,,, if she only knew...........
But theres would always be a sudden change of fate to everything. we are going to have our "retreat" before graduation. our adviser was not able to go with us coz her son was sick, and it was Mr. Physics time to shine with us.. i felt nervous chills, im happy, "itchy" maybe. hehe, i cant explain the feeling. but its ok, i prided myself as a great pretender. its on a very scenic quiet place, but not really a retreat house, its like a forest resort... after the common "methodology" of the event, we prepared to sleep. since its our is our last nyt, i strolled aroung the place at 11pm, much to my shock, (y man he's there oy, he's so maninintal) he is there at the garden (naghinuktok) i was to go on and disappear but ............. "gising ka pah" (caught!!!)

me: opoh, (obvious bah) explore2 lng, pwa sulit ang bayad. mahal baya.
xa: (laughs reavealing nice set of teeth> )
talaga!!! kakatawa ka nman.
me: wla, uhm, bsta, nice man gud ang place. (spexally coz he's there)
xa: u wna say something?
me: hah? wat man sir...
xa: about the letters...
me: hah!!! (kandila pls, i nid to die) (y does he know?, he's also an astrologer maybe aside from being witty?)
xa: i admire u. ur very brave. but di tlaga halata na ganyan ka pala....
me: (decision was made, admit!!!)

From that encounter, im so careful. he started txting me, dunno how he got the number... didnt reply.... but whats wrong, its just quotes and after all he is really fond of txting the class maybe because he's still young, except that im not replying lng jud, so i replied, hi's and hello's coz its gonna be bye2!!!

Graduation.

We started painting the stage for the grad, grad practice, not much class, im just 3rd hon mention, but im so glad still, got my slip for a state u nah or college to be a BS BIO stud, im a half scho, things my whole fam is so happy and pride of.... if they only knew how terrible i am... but this soon pa hinu-on.
I really like to paint so i stayed late, six o'clock!!! how late... but since theres no more reg classes everybody is rushing to go home.. there are only five of us left... i went to the backstage, i've seen MP there examining the draft to be posted on the stage... sir, we'll go ahead napud...."ahhh.. ok... but can you see this?" said he.... so i took the paper, its a paper with a message, " i now realized i felt the same,"
And he kissed me, i returned of course... dream come true!!! pathetic me. that was our first, it turned out that its really been already "us". (inconceivable thought)
we've been so discreet, very much... avoid being caught... my parents would really be furious. luckily we managed to keep it.
the banker girl is still there but i dont care anymore as long as he's also partly mine , always been a part of me coz he's always be my baby!!!! (evil laughs)
generosity! people of engotlandia!!! its like share a load.
Ours have been four years of immaterially sounding but great and divine "love" . "we do the usual llover norms when im in college. we would just meet in a place a bit farther than ours, but this is never a hassle for us. we shared so much passion. then came a heavy rain... we are on a farm on a countryside... we rushed then into his car... and there for the first time as we were both heated by the coldness, we shared the passion we had inside screaming, dying to explore every inch of emotion as if this would be our last.... (yuck----author ni, y am i writing this... pang abante rni dli Pulitzer.)
Time passed. i graduated with my pre-med.
we constantly changed letters since i studied offshore to pursue my Medical practice... its another four years. im 29 now.. a neurosurgeon.... he's 40...still attractive and the vice president in a state college....
Years passed and for eternity, this would only be like this.... for in this world, we should accept things we cant change.... we both have "families" on our own now and we are both been good providers..... he's and mine are both commended by society as a model, with our love affair at hand that is being kept, filth as considered by people the one we considered divine, we flourished to be unsung lovers, tested through the torrent of times.
unfathomable decision and risks is our custom, love affair the gods would spit off for....ours is undefinable.... a pandemonium, a bomb yearning to explode.
We secretly meet on our "nest" a 5 hour drive from were we live... bought a nice place near the sea.... and tried to manage to do "a normally-abnormal" life.
fate had played with us.... but we know that in our hearts , no one could ever replace him to me, my ever beloved Mr. Physics and me to him, the dreamy student... though we are of the same sex.
